Volume 1, Chapter 11: The Whereabouts of Lin Long
[Page 1/3]
[There have been several instances of spiritual energy resurgence throughout history. The ancient martial artists and sorcerers of the Eastern world, as well as the super-powered individuals of the Western world, are all, in fact, practitioners.]
[However, spiritual energy resurgence comes and goes quickly. Most of those practitioners were like flashes in the pan, vanishing into the long river of history.]
[Some practitioners left behind legacies as they neared death, benefiting future generations. This is why, even today, extraordinary individuals who can harness supernatural energy occasionally emerge across the globe.]
[The 749 Bureau is merely a small organization that has developed over the last few decades; it only rose to prominence with official backing, but that is all it amounts to.]
[The cultivation legacies left behind in the Nine Provinces far exceed those of any other nation. There are even super-factions that have existed for millennia, such as the Ancient Martial Sect, the Yama Palace, and the Celestial Master's Mansion...]
[Although there have been multiple spiritual energy resurgences in history, none have ever been powerful enough to cleanse the entire planet. This upheaval of heaven and earth is destined to be recorded in history and will influence the world for ten thousand years.]
...
Chu Ge’s eyes flickered as he silently committed the names of the super-factions mentioned in the diary to memory.
"Is there any trouble?" Su Ran asked tentatively as she walked out from the inner room.
"Don't worry, I’ve handled it," Chu Ge replied, shaking his head.
"Mhm!" Su Ran let out a sigh of relief, lowering her head in thought.
The next afternoon.
Only a few hours remained until the spiritual energy resurgence.
The private investigator finally sent over Lin Long’s location.
Chu Ge set off immediately without a moment’s delay.
To Chu Ge’s surprise, Lin Long’s location turned out to be an upscale clubhouse owned by the Tang Group.
Several luxury cars were parked outside, clearly indicating that someone of great importance was inside.
A cold smirk played on the corners of Chu Ge’s mouth as he walked straight toward the entrance, only to be blocked by two brawny security guards before he could enter.
"Sir, the clubhouse has been privately booked. Please come back another day."
Hearing this, Chu Ge glanced at the two guards.
With a few dull thuds, both guards collapsed to the ground, groaning while clutching their arms.
With a cold, indifferent expression, Chu Ge stepped into the clubhouse.
...
"Young Master Long, the ladies are all here for you. Pick whichever ones you like."
Tang Song, the young heir of the Tang Group, stood before a man, his face full of obsequious smiles.
[Page 2/3]
Among the younger generation, few could make Tang Song lower his posture this much.
Although Tang Song felt resentful inside, he dared not voice any complaints on the surface.
The Tang family were the local tyrants in a small place like Jiangcheng City.
But the man before him came from Tianjing City and had military district connections—he was far beyond what Tang Song could afford to provoke.
Lin Long scanned the women with his eyes and smiled slightly. "No need to pick. I want them all."
Tang Song was stunned, then quickly flattered, "It is their honor that Young Master Long has taken a liking to them."
"Are you all working your first day? Why are you just standing there like idiots?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the women quickly surrounded him.
Lin Long lay on the sofa, reaching out to wrap his arm around the prettiest girl, his hand stroking her fair, smooth thigh. "I plan to stay in Jiangcheng for a few more days. If you have any trouble, just say the word, and I’ll handle it for you."
"Young Master Long, I was beaten by someone a few days ago. I would be grateful if you could step in and help me settle the score." Tang Song recounted the conflict he had with Chu Ge.
A flash of surprise crossed Lin Long’s eyes as he asked, "Are you saying he took down over a dozen security guards with his bare hands?"
"Yes. I don't know what Chu Ge grew up eating, but he has immense strength. The security guards at the Royal Hotel are all top-tier, but in front of Chu Ge, they were as fragile as chicks. He could even twist iron bars with his bare hands," Tang Song said, still feeling a lingering fear.
Recalling the scene from that day, he couldn't help but feel terrified.
This was the reason he hadn't sought trouble with Chu Ge for so long.
Lin Long reached his left hand into another girl’s dress, kneading firmly, then said in a deep voice, "Uncle Wu, what do you think?"
Tang Song was startled at the sound, then watched as the elderly man in a traditional Chinese robe, who had been standing behind Lin Long, stepped forward. "Young Master, that Chu Ge is likely a practitioner like myself."
"That’s what I thought, too."
Lin Long nodded, opening his mouth to swallow a grape fed to him by a girl.
"In recent times, many supernatural phenomena have appeared around the world. Some people have awakened talents and become practitioners. I wonder what kind of blind luck that kid stumbled upon."
The conversation left Tang Song confused. "Young Master Long, what are you talking about? What is a practitioner?"
A subtle trace of disdain flashed in Lin Long’s eyes. "Uncle Wu, show this kid a thing or two so he can learn something."
Without a word, Uncle Wu walked to the table and pressed his palm down gently, leaving a clear, deep handprint on the surface.
"This... is a practitioner?!"
Tang Song gasped, staring intently at Uncle Wu.
Uncle Wu had graying hair and a gaunt face, but he was full of vitality, looking at least twenty years younger than the old men playing chess in the park.
[Page 3/3]
Tang Song had previously wondered why Lin Long had no bodyguards but was instead accompanied by an old man like Uncle Wu.
Now, he understood: this Uncle Wu was a hidden master.
Tang Song said with a mix of jealousy and helplessness, "I didn't expect Chu Ge to be a master like Uncle Wu. It seems I won't be able to get my revenge after all."
"Young man, you underestimate me by saying that." Uncle Wu wore a look of indignation, his aura imposing.
He had practiced martial arts for forty years, was proficient in both Northern and Southern styles, and had been cultivating internal energy for over a decade.
Recently, as the spiritual energy between heaven and earth grew increasingly dense, Uncle Wu’s cultivation had improved significantly. He was now a First-Stage Body Tempering practitioner and was feeling quite full of himself.
How could he tolerate Tang Song placing him and Chu Ge on the same level?
In Uncle Wu’s eyes, Chu Ge was merely a novice who had just stepped onto the path of cultivation—they were worlds apart, and the two were not in the same league.
Scolded coldly by Uncle Wu, Tang Song immediately realized he had said the wrong thing and fell silent, not daring to even breathe loudly.
"You really don't know the height of the sky or the depth of the earth. Never say such things in front of a practitioner again, or you will suffer for it."
Lin Long looked at Tang Song with cold eyes.
He did not believe that Chu Ge could compare to Uncle Wu.
A lucky guy who stumbled upon a miracle—how could he compare to Uncle Wu’s decades of hard work and sweat?
"Uncle Wu, go with this guy and bring that fellow back to me after you’ve crippled him."
"Yes, Young Master!"
Tang Song was overjoyed and quickly led Uncle Wu away with a respectful demeanor.
In the hallway, Tang Song bowed and flattered, his attitude increasingly obsequious. "Master Wu, I apologize for the trouble."
"It’s a minor matter, no trouble at all. I am merely acting on behalf of the Young Master," Uncle Wu said, feeling satisfied and composed.
Just as they turned a corner, a young man with a cold, stern face suddenly appeared in their field of vision.
"Chu Ge?!"
Tang Song was slightly startled, then overjoyed. "Hahaha, I was just looking for you. I didn't expect you to deliver yourself to my doorstep."
