Chapter 10: Speak Ill and You'll Get Slapped
Han Yang tactfully said, "If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave now."
Just as Jiang Ruoxi was about to speak, there was a knock at the door.
“Come in!”
The assistant pushed the door open. “Chairwoman, Miss Song and Young Master Hu have arrived.”
Jiang Ruoxi frowned slightly.
Why did Hu Yuan come with Song Yuqi?
“Let them in.”
The assistant turned and left. Soon after, a man and a woman entered the office.
The man was Hu Yuan—the very person Jiang Ruoxi had mentioned over the phone earlier.
The woman was Song Yuqi, Jiang Ruoxi’s close friend; the two shared a very deep bond.
Han Yang sized up Song Yuqi.
She was an absolute stunner—her figure and looks were one in a million.
Moreover, she carried herself with a refined elegance, unmistakably the daughter of a wealthy family.
Song Yuqi smiled. “Oh, guests, huh?”
Hu Yuan, however, cast a malicious glance at Han Yang.
This man was so handsome.
He absolutely would not allow such a good-looking man to get close to Jiang Ruoxi.
He saw every man who tried to approach Jiang Ruoxi as a thorn in his side.
Jiang Ruoxi introduced, “This is Han Yang, the one I mentioned to you yesterday. He cured Youyou’s illness.”
Then she introduced Hu Yuan and Song Yuqi to Han Yang.
Song Yuqi smiled and said, “So you’re Han Yang. Didn’t expect you to be such a handsome guy.”
Han Yang smiled modestly. “You flatter me.”
Hu Yuan, however, casually asked, “Which medical university did you graduate from?”
“I never went to medical school. I don’t even have a medical license. I’m self-taught,” Han Yang shrugged.
Hu Yuan was taken aback.
He had assumed Han Yang’s medical skills were highly advanced, and this would have earned him some respect.
But he never expected this guy to be a grassroots practitioner without even the most basic medical qualifications.
“How ridiculous. You don’t even have a medical license. Who gave you the right to treat patients?” Hu Yuan taunted provocatively.
“Does it concern you?” Han Yang shot back bluntly.
Jiang Ruoxi and Song Yuqi both sensed the thick tension filling the room.
“No matter what, Han Yang did cure Youyou. That’s an undeniable fact,” Jiang Ruoxi said firmly.
Hu Yuan was displeased. “Leave such matters to me in the future. I can introduce you to better doctors. This time, you just got lucky. Next time, it might not be so easy.”
“Noted,” Jiang Ruoxi replied expressionlessly.
Song Yuqi chimed in, “Regardless, Han Yang cured Youyou. From now on, we’re all friends!”
“Friends with him? Look at that shabby appearance—like a beggar,” Hu Yuan sneered disdainfully.
His words left both Jiang Ruoxi and Song Yuqi feeling awkward.
Han Yang sneered coldly. “Kid, I’m warning you, watch your mouth.”
“Heh, I’m not wrong. You dress so poorly. Healing Youyou was just a lucky strike. Don’t think you can use this chance to get close to Ruoxi.”
“I’ve figured it out—you see every man who approaches Jiang Ruoxi as an enemy. But you’re just a fool trying to cozy up to someone who clearly doesn’t like you. I overheard Ruoxi talking to her mother on the phone just now; she made it clear she doesn’t like you. You’d better be sensible and stop acting like a bootlicker,” Han Yang taunted with a sneer.
Jiang Ruoxi’s expression darkened. “Han Yang, why are you saying these things? Didn’t you say you had something to do and were going to leave? You can go now.”
Han Yang said nothing and turned to leave.
Hu Yuan barked, “Stop right there! Even if Ruoxi doesn’t like me, she wouldn’t fall for some poor loser like you. You’re a stray mutt—don’t even think about chasing after a rich, beautiful woman. You’re such a social outcast, even street beggars would look down on you!”
Han Yang’s words had clearly humiliated Hu Yuan.
Fury ignited in Hu Yuan’s heart, and he began hurling insults.
Han Yang didn’t respond verbally; instead, he raised his hand and slapped Hu Yuan.
Caught off guard, Hu Yuan staggered back.
Jiang Ruoxi and Song Yuqi were shocked.
Neither had expected Han Yang to suddenly strike someone.
“Han Yang, how can you hit someone? Looks like you really have a violent streak,” Jiang Ruoxi scolded with a stern face.
“I already warned him to watch his mouth. He didn’t listen, so don’t blame me,” Han Yang replied coolly.
Jiang Ruoxi rolled her eyes.
Although she disliked Hu Yuan, he truly had treated her well.
Her refusal to accept him was mainly because of Jiang Youyou.
She knew Hu Yuan well enough to see through his façade.
He was adept at disguising his true intentions and rarely revealed his real thoughts.
He might outwardly accept Jiang Youyou, but Jiang Ruoxi understood that was just empty talk.
Once she married him with Youyou in tow, he might show a very different side.
Meanwhile, Hu Yuan cursed furiously, “You filthy beggar, who do you think you are hitting me?”
“I hit you because your mouth stinks. Remember to brush your teeth when you go out. Your breath reeks. If there’s a next time, I’ll hit you again,” Han Yang said, then turned and left.
Hu Yuan glared at his retreating figure.
Within him, the seed of hatred had been sown.
This grudge must be avenged.
Song Yuqi hurried after Han Yang. “Wait, Han Yang!”
“What? You want to stand up for that Hu guy?”
“That’s not what I mean. Hu Yuan was definitely in the wrong earlier. He shouldn’t have kept belittling you. I apologize on his behalf. Also, thank you for saving Youyou. Ruoxi and I aren’t biological sisters, but we’re closer than that. By helping her, you helped me. I really appreciate it.”
Han Yang studied Song Yuqi.
She was very polite.
Her manner and tone were pleasant and sincere.
He smiled. “No need to thank me. It was nothing. I’m a straightforward person: I treat others as they treat me.”
“I can see that. You’re very honest. Let’s exchange contact info. When we have time, Ruoxi and I will invite you to dinner,” Song Yuqi said earnestly.
Han Yang didn’t refuse. He took out his phone and exchanged contacts with her.
“I like making friends with polite people. If you ever run into trouble, you can call me.”
“Okay, got it.”
Han Yang nodded and turned to leave.
Song Yuqi watched him go, her expression somewhat strange.
This guy had quite a character.
He couldn’t tolerate nonsense and took grudges seriously.
After seeing Han Yang enter the elevator, Song Yuqi turned back to the office.
At that moment, Jiang Ruoxi and Hu Yuan were talking.
Hu Yuan saw Song Yuqi return and asked sharply, “Why did you chase after him?”
“Nothing, just apologized to Han Yang on your behalf.”
“Are you kidding? He hit me, and you apologize to him?” Hu Yuan’s eyes widened.
Song Yuqi said, “You were at fault first. You shouldn’t have insulted him. Besides, Youyou’s recovery depends on Han Yang. We can’t afford to offend him.”
Hu Yuan was furious to the point of bursting.
He had lost face in front of a filthy loser today.
And the two beautiful women by his side were siding with that loser.
Hu Yuan could not allow this to happen.
He vowed to make Han Yang pay.
