Chapter 14: Just You Wait and See

Chen Hu couldn’t help but glance at Han Yang when Hu Yuan spoke. “So it was you who crippled my godson. You’ve got some nerve, daring to lay a hand on someone from my Chen Hu’s crew.”
“I crippled Xing Tiankai because he deserved it. He used underhanded tricks to knock out my two friends and then tried to do something vile. Doesn’t such a person deserve a lesson?” Han Yang retorted.
“Fuck you, I’m not wasting my breath on your nonsense. You touched my people; you’re as good as dead.”
“If you want to kill me, I doubt you have the ability.”
Chen Hu roared, “Brothers, come at him and beat him to death!”
No sooner had he spoken than his men charged at Han Yang.
They thought Han Yang would be as easy to handle as Hu Yuan.
Everyone scrambled to earn merit.
At the same time, Han Yang clenched his right fist and delivered a fist strike head-on.
A surge of true energy burst forth.
The thugs at the forefront were instantly sent flying.
The next moment, Han Yang leapt into the crowd.
Using both hands and feet, within ten seconds, he had dealt with all the remaining thugs.
A group of men lay on the ground, wailing in pain.
Chen Hu’s eyes widened as he stared at Han Yang.
He hadn’t expected this kid to be a martial artist—no wonder he was so cocky.
Jiang Ruoxi and Song Yuqi were equally astonished.
They were thoroughly impressed by Han Yang’s skill.
Han Yang was unbelievably formidable.
This shattered their previous perceptions.
Han Yang looked at Chen Hu opposite him. “Your men are all taken care of. Why don’t you come over and try?”
“You’re not worthy of me getting involved,” Chen Hu snarled viciously.
“Hahaha, you old punk sure know how to save face. If you have the guts, make a move. Try me.”
Chen Hu said nothing, just kept his gaze locked on Han Yang.
From the earlier exchange, he had already deduced that Han Yang was a martial artist.
Engaging him would surely bring losses.
Better to retreat first, investigate his background, and then decide.
“You little punk, I, Chen Hu, will remember you, and so will the Wei Hu Gang. We’ll see about this.”
With that, Chen Hu threw a hand and walked away.
His men struggled to get up, stooping as they followed.
Soon, the group left the Jiang family residence.
Song Yuqi approached. “Han Yang, you’re incredible—so cool.”

“Not bad. I don’t even bother with these small fry.”
Jiang Ruoxi also came forward. “Sorry about earlier—I misunderstood you. I apologize.”
Han Yang snorted coldly. “I’m not petty. I won’t stoop to your level.”
Jiang Ruoxi pressed her lips, wanting to say something but hesitating.
Nearby, Hu Yuan trembled with rage.
He had thought Chen Hu’s men could handle Han Yang.
But he hadn’t expected this bastard to be so powerful, easily dispatching Chen Hu’s men.
However, Han Yang’s glory wouldn’t last long.
He had thoroughly angered Chen Hu.
Chen Hu would never let him off.
In a moment of silence, Hu Yuan groaned, “Ouch, that hurts. Someone help me up.”
At once, the three turned to look at him.
Jiang Ruoxi questioned, “Hu Yuan, why did you lie to us?”
“I didn’t mean to deceive you. I was just worried Han Yang couldn’t handle Chen Hu, so I took credit for him. I was thinking of you all,” Hu Yuan began making excuses.
Jiang Ruoxi rolled her eyes, never having met someone so shameless.
Han Yang laughed loudly, “Haha, Hu Yuan, you truly are a talent. Honestly, I admire how you can lie without blinking.”
“Han Yang, don’t get cocky. Chen Hu won’t let this go.”
“No need for you to worry. I have my own ways. You can leave now.”
Song Yuqi added, “You should go. We don’t want to see you here.”
Hu Yuan’s lips trembled in fury.
Under the circumstances, he had no choice but to leave.
He planned to return after Chen Hu dealt with Han Yang, then come find Jiang Ruoxi.
With that, Hu Yuan limped away.
Jiang Ruoxi turned to Han Yang. “This isn’t over. Chen Hu won’t give up easily. We need to figure out a way to handle this together.”
“How do you plan to handle it?” Han Yang asked.
“My relationship with the Jiang family is strained now. They definitely won’t help me. We’ll have to rely on Yuqi.”
Song Yuqi said, “I’ll ask my grandfather to step in and personally call Chen Hu. My grandfather is the head of the Song family; Chen Hu will have to show some respect.”
Han Yang nodded. “Fine. You handle it. If it doesn’t work, I’ll step in again.”
“Han Yang, don’t underestimate Chen Hu. The Wei Hu Gang isn’t easy to deal with. Today Chen Hu probably thought the guy who crippled Xing Tiankai was weak, so he only brought a few men. The gang has many experts.”
“Chen Hu didn’t call for reinforcements because he realized you’re a martial artist. He couldn’t gauge your strength, so he wants to investigate first before making a move,” Song Yuqi said seriously.
Han Yang nodded repeatedly.
Her analysis made a lot of sense.

Chen Hu discovered Han Yang was a martial artist. Perhaps he thought Han Yang studied under some master and was unsure about him, so he wanted to retreat and investigate.
After all, masters held great status in Pengcheng.
“I’ve noted what you said. I’ll act according to the situation. If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave.”
Han Yang greeted the two women and left.
Song Yuqi then turned to Jiang Ruoxi. “Ruoxi, I’m going with Han Yang.”
After saying this, she hurried after him.
Jiang Ruoxi’s expression was strange.
She sensed Song Yuqi was unusually attentive toward Han Yang.
Once the two got into the car and drove off, Jiang Ruoxi turned and went back.
In the car, Song Yuqi said to Han Yang, “Could you please take me back to the Song family?”
“Sure.”
“Han Yang, there’s actually something I want to tell you.”
“What is it?”
Song Yuqi said, “Last night in the private room, shortly after you gave me the antidote, I woke up. I was pretending to be unconscious. I knew it was you who saved me and Jiang Ruoxi.”
Han Yang’s eyes widened. “Then why didn’t you expose Hu Yuan when he was babbling nonsense before?”
Song Yuqi explained, “Because I didn’t want to involve you. When I was about to faint last night, I picked up my phone to seek help, but I was in bad shape—about to pass out—and had no strength to search my contacts.”
“By chance, I had added you yesterday. When you messaged me, your chat was at the top, so I asked for your help.”
“But I knew you couldn’t handle the Wei Hu Gang, so I didn’t want to drag you into this. I thought we could figure it out ourselves.”
Han Yang shook his head and smiled bitterly.
So that’s what had happened.
But this also showed that Song Yuqi was thoughtful and kind-hearted.
Her impression was much better than Jiang Ruoxi’s.
“So in the end, you treated me like an outsider,” Han Yang teased.
“No, that’s not what I meant,” Song Yuqi hurried to deny.
“Haha, I’m joking. I know you didn’t mean that. I’ve met countless people in my life. I know you’re kind.”
Song Yuqi smiled sweetly.
They chatted casually, one sentence here and there.
About twenty minutes later, Han Yang drove to the Song residence.
Song Yuqi greeted Han Yang before getting out and leaving.
After she left, Han Yang prepared to head home.
