Chapter 15: Reaching an Agreement
Meanwhile, Chen Hu also arrived at the First People's Hospital of the city. He quickly made his way to the intensive care unit. At that moment, Xing Tiankai was lying on the hospital bed. Seeing Chen Hu approach, Xing Tiankai immediately sat up and said, "Godfather, you're back! That worthless dog who tried to ruin me has already been taken care of, right?"
Chen Hu replied, "I brought some men over earlier, but they were all dealt with by him."
"What? You couldn't handle him either?" Xing Tiankai was shocked.
Chen Hu continued, "Don't worry just yet. The mighty Wei Hu Gang can't be stopped by some nobody. I've learned his name is Han Yang, and judging by his skills, he’s a martial artist. I’ve sent people to investigate his background because I’m worried he might be a disciple of some grandmaster."
Hearing this, Xing Tiankai’s expression darkened. He hadn’t expected Han Yang to be a martial artist. No wonder he was so arrogant and ruthless. If Han Yang truly was a disciple of one of the grandmasters, things could get complicated.
In Pengcheng, grandmasters hold immense prestige—not only in the city but throughout the martial world. Whether one is a social elite, from a noble family, or even a city lord, they show utmost respect to a grandmaster. There are four grandmasters in Pengcheng, each highly revered. If Han Yang were a disciple of any of them, it would be a serious problem.
After some thought, Xing Tiankai said, "Han Yang probably isn’t a disciple of a grandmaster, is he?"
"It’s not clear yet. I’ve already ordered an investigation. We’ll figure out his true identity first, then devise a plan to eliminate him," Chen Hu said with authority.
Xing Tiankai didn’t argue further; in this situation, he could only follow Chen Hu’s lead. After a brief conversation, Chen Hu left.
...
Elsewhere, a Mercedes-Maybach pulled up outside the Bai Sha Consortium headquarters. Gu Shuyao and Fang Juyi stepped out of the car and walked side by side toward the entrance. Gu Shuyao addressed the security guard at the door, "Hello, I’m Gu Shuyao, Chairwoman of Gu Pharmaceuticals. We’re here specifically to visit President Li. Please notify him."
Since Han Yang had handled the security guards at the gate last time, they had become much more polite.
"Please wait a moment. I'll notify him right away," the guard said, then turned to head to the front desk.
Soon, Li Tao in the CEO office received a call from his secretary.
"President Li, Gu Shuyao, Chairwoman of Gu Pharmaceuticals, is here to see you. Would you like to meet her?"
Li Tao said, "Bring them to my office."
"Understood."
After hanging up, Li Tao called Han Yang.
"Hello!"
"Boss, you guessed it right. Gu Shuyao came looking for me."
Han Yang sneered on the other end, "I knew she would come to you. Promise to invest in Gu Pharmaceuticals first. After they leave, I'll come to you and teach you what to do next."
"Alright."
Ten minutes later, there was a knock at the door.
"Come in!"
The secretary led Gu Shuyao and Fang Juyi into the office. Normally, they carried an air of arrogance, but now they appeared quite cautious.
"President Li, hello, I’m Gu Shuyao, Chairwoman of Gu Pharmaceuticals."
"President Li, I’m Fang Juyi, CEO of Gu Pharmaceuticals. It’s a pleasure to meet you."
Li Tao smiled, "Please, have a seat."
The three sat on the sofa and began to talk. Gu Shuyao said, "President Li, we’re here to earnestly seek cooperation with the Bai Sha Group. We want to secure investment from the Bai Sha Consortium and become a publicly listed company. Gu Pharmaceuticals is a large pharmaceutical manufacturing and processing company. Besides that, we also produce medical equipment. I’m also a chief surgeon at the city’s People's Hospital. This is a brief overview of Gu Pharmaceuticals. I’ve prepared detailed documents for your review."
After speaking, Gu Shuyao handed over the documents.
Li Tao took them and studied carefully. The materials were indeed thorough.
Li Tao knew that Gu Pharmaceuticals’ current success was all thanks to Han Yang. It was Han Yang who had silently supported Gu Shuyao, helping the company grow step by step. Without Han Yang, there would be no Gu Pharmaceuticals as it was today.
"I’ve actually heard of Gu Pharmaceuticals for a long time. This document is quite detailed and has given me a clear understanding of your company’s scale and development history," Li Tao said with a smile.
Gu Shuyao and Fang Juyi immediately brightened. It seemed this cooperation was promising.
"President Li, do you think Gu Pharmaceuticals meets the investment criteria of the Bai Sha Consortium?"
"To be honest, many corporations have visited me recently, but Gu Pharmaceuticals is by far the most satisfactory group," Li Tao said.
"Really? That’s wonderful," Gu Shuyao said excitedly.
Fang Juyi added, "So, can we cooperate?"
"Cooperation is certainly not an issue, but before that, I will send an evaluation team to your company for a week-long assessment to ensure there are no internal problems. Once you meet the standards, we can sign the contract immediately," Li Tao said confidently.
Gu Shuyao and Fang Juyi were overjoyed. That was easier than they had imagined.
They prepared to welcome the Bai Sha Consortium’s evaluation team.
"President Li, thank you so much. Rest assured, we won’t let you down," Gu Shuyao said emotionally.
"Your words put me at ease. I look forward to working with you," Li Tao replied.
Gu Shuyao and Fang Juyi felt reassured. Given the current situation, cooperation was almost certain.
Suddenly, Fang Juyi remembered something. "President Li, may I ask—do you know someone named Han Yang?"
Li Tao paused, then shook his head. "I don’t. Why do you ask?"
Gu Shuyao frowned at Fang Juyi, "Are you out of your mind? Someone as significant as President Li wouldn’t know a nobody like Han Yang."
"I was just asking casually. It’s a relief he’s unknown to you. That confirms those men in black at the kindergarten were actors hired by Han Yang," Fang Juyi said.
"Exactly. Why even doubt it?" Gu Shuyao added slyly.
Fang Juyi explained to Li Tao, "President Li, you may not know, but previously a man named Han Yang hired actors to impersonate Bai Sha Consortium staff and scam people."
Feigning anger, Li Tao said, "That’s outrageous. Who exactly is this Han Yang?"
"He is... he is..." Fang Juyi hesitated and glanced at Gu Shuyao.
Quickly, Gu Shuyao took over, "We’re not familiar with him either. We just knew he impersonated Bai Sha Consortium people, so we wanted to check if you knew him."
Gu Shuyao did not want Li Tao to know Han Yang was her ex-husband. She was about to secure cooperation with Bai Sha Consortium, and once Gu Pharmaceuticals received investment, it would become a listed company. She certainly didn’t want others to know her ex was a failure.
Li Tao pretended to be serious, "I’ll have someone investigate this. If what you say is true—if Han Yang is really impersonating Bai Sha Consortium to scam people—I won’t let him off."
Upon hearing this, Gu Shuyao and Fang Juyi nodded eagerly. They hoped Li Tao would take action.
After the meeting, Fang Juyi and Gu Shuyao left Bai Sha Consortium. They even invited Li Tao to dinner that evening, and he agreed.
Meanwhile, Han Yang was waiting by the Bai Sha Consortium entrance. He didn’t go inside but stayed in his car.
Gu Shuyao’s Maybach was parked right in front of his vehicle.
Han Yang saw Gu Shuyao and Fang Juyi chatting and laughing as they walked toward their car. They opened the doors to get in.
Gu Shuyao instinctively glanced back. To her surprise, the person in the BMW X5 behind them looked very much like Han Yang.
"Han Yang!" Gu Shuyao called out without thinking.
Fang Juyi also turned his head and, upon closer look, it really was Han Yang.
Han Yang rolled down his car window.
Gu Shuyao approached and confirmed it was indeed him.
"Oh! Being kept by someone must be nice—you’re even driving a BMW X5. Someone like you doesn’t deserve such a nice car," Gu Shuyao sneered.
Han Yang wasn’t surprised by her words. Fang Juyi must have told her about the kindergarten incident.
"It’s none of your business what car I drive," Han Yang said expressionlessly.
Fang Juyi chimed in, "Han Yang, don’t think you’re hot stuff just because Jiang Ruoxi took you in. At the end of the day, you’re just a kept pretty boy. Do you know why we’re here today?"
"Why don’t you tell me?" Han Yang replied knowingly.
Fang Juyi said, "Shuyao and I are here to discuss cooperation with Bai Sha Consortium. President Li Tao has agreed to work with us. Gu Pharmaceuticals will soon become a publicly listed company."
"Congratulations," Han Yang said with a sarcastic grin.
Gu Shuyao added, "Do you, a loser, deserve congratulations? You’re just a kept pretty boy. I despise you from the bottom of my heart."
Han Yang opened his door and stepped out.
Gu Shuyao instinctively took a few steps back.
"Gu Shuyao, feeling a bit sassy again? Believe it or not, I’ll slap you across the face," Han Yang said darkly.
Fang Juyi added, "Han Yang, don’t get cocky. Your good days are over. Don’t think I don’t know about those men in black you hired to back Jiang Youyou. They’re not Bai Sha Consortium people—they’re just actors you hired. I asked President Li earlier; he doesn’t know you at all. You’re shameless, pretending to be from Bai Sha Consortium to swindle people."
"That’s right. Those guys were hired actors. What are you going to do about it?" Han Yang crossed his arms, amused as he looked at Fang Juyi.
"Damn it, you’re so proud, huh? I’m calling President Li right now to send people to teach you a lesson. He’s been looking for you, you scumbag," Fang Juyi said, reaching for his phone.
Han Yang raised his hand and slapped him.
Fang Juyi staggered and fell to the ground, his phone dropping as well.
Gu Shuyao cursed, "Han Yang, you—"
Before she could finish, Han Yang raised his hand and slapped her again.
Gu Shuyao staggered backward.
"You all have such foul mouths. You deserve to be hit!" Han Yang shouted angrily.
