Exhausted after a long day at work, Xu Xu had just returned home when she received a call from her mother. Although she was puzzled as to why her mother would call at this hour, she answered it anyway.

Then... she regretted it.

"Xu Xu! I am so disappointed in you! It was one thing for you to smear Yaru in front of the company staff, but how could you bring the Su family in to bully her?"

Her mother’s words came in a rapid-fire torrent of accusations, giving Xu Xu no chance to explain.

"Apologize to Yaru in public tomorrow, or don't blame me for disregarding our mother-daughter bond!"

"I..."

"Beep, beep, beep—"

Before she could utter a single word, her mother hung up the phone.

Xu Xu stared at the disconnected phone, stunned. She knew He Xiujuan was easily swayed, but she never imagined she would be so blinded by bias for Xu Yaru. Twenty-plus years of mother-daughter ties, so fragile and brittle.

How laughable.

After Xu Xu answered the call, Huo Hanshen had tactfully stepped aside. But seeing her expression after she hung up, he knew the Xu family must have done something else to hurt her. With that thought, Huo Hanshen took out his phone and called Lin Feng.

The call connected quickly.

"Help me host a banquet. Make it as lavish as possible."

On the other end, Lin Feng sounded slightly surprised: "Boss Huo, this isn't your usual style. Could it be... for your sister-in-law?"

"Yes," Huo Hanshen admitted directly. "I want everyone to know that she is my woman!"

"But..." Lin Feng hesitated, "won't this disrupt our original plans?"

Huo Hanshen chuckled softly. "It won't. Do you think the old foxes in Hai City don't know about Xu Xu's existence? They all know. If I do nothing now, it will only put her in danger. By putting Xu Xu in the spotlight, they won't dare to act rashly against her!"

Hearing Huo Hanshen's explanation, Lin Feng suddenly understood.

"No wonder Boss Huo is the CEO; that brain of his is just better than mine!" Lin Feng couldn't help but sigh to himself.

He nodded and accepted the task. "I understand. I'll make sure this banquet is handled perfectly!"

After ending the call with Huo Hanshen, Lin Feng began to ponder how to make the banquet grand.

"Just a luxurious venue isn't enough. By Boss Huo's meaning, he wants the entire city of Hai to know about her!" Lin Feng stroked his chin in thought. "That means we need an audience..."

With that in mind, he called his subordinates, instructing them to announce that the Xuri Group would be holding an anniversary banquet, inviting all the celebrities and elites of Hai City!

The next day, Xu Xu had adjusted her state of mind before heading to the office. However, just as she arrived and prepared to go to the breakroom for a cup of coffee, she heard her colleagues whispering.

"...Did you hear? It’s gone, the Xuri Group’s anniversary celebration!"

"Of course I heard! But, the Xuri Group invited all the elites of Hai City, yet they excluded our Xu Corporation... hiss, could it be that our company is failing?"

"You rebellious daughter! Did you do this on purpose!?"

Looking at the enraged Xu Jianjun, Xu Xu was completely bewildered. "What are you talking about?"

What was he doing, acting like a madman so early in the morning?

Xu Jianjun pointed at Xu Xu and scolded, "Was it you who convinced the Xuri Group to strike our company from their anniversary guest list!?"
