Xu Xu looked at Huo Hanshen with some confusion.
In a calm voice, Huo Hanshen said, “Your husband isn’t that poor. It’s only a few hundred thousand—I can still afford it.”
Xu Xu sighed with relief and looked up at him. “Even if you can afford it, there was no need to buy such an expensive gown!”
She was not a vain person, and she would not care about other people’s gossip.
“But… the tag has already been removed from the dress. There’s no way to return it now!”
“Well…”
She glanced at the gown and hesitated before finally nodding. “All right. I’ll accept it this time, but you’re not allowed to buy such expensive gifts again!”
“Mm, all right. I’ll do as you say.”
Xu Xu could not help smiling. “Thank you. The dress really is beautiful. I absolutely love it!”
Since it could not be returned, she might as well enjoy it properly.
When they arrived home, Huo Hanshen said, “Would you like to try on the gown and see whether it fits?”
Xu Xu nodded. “All right.”
While Xu Xu changed, Huo Hanshen sat on the sofa in the living room and waited.
After about ten minutes, the clicking of high heels echoed down the staircase.
He turned around instinctively—and was stunned by the sight of Xu Xu descending from the second floor.
She came down slowly, wearing the red gown adorned with tiny crystals. Under the lights, it shimmered with dazzling brilliance. The red dress was like a mass of burning flames, making her look even more breathtakingly beautiful.

Looking at Xu Xu like this, Huo Hanshen rose to his feet almost involuntarily.
The gown had been cut to perfection, outlining her graceful figure flawlessly.
As Xu Xu approached him, his throat tightened, and his heartbeat quickened despite himself.
Xu Xu did not notice anything unusual about him. She was still immersed in her delight over the beautiful gown.
“Does it look good?”
Her eyes sparkling, Xu Xu gazed at Huo Hanshen. As she spoke, she turned in a circle before him to show off the dress.
“It looks good… You’re especially beautiful.” As he spoke, Huo Hanshen slowly walked toward her. “It would look even better if you tied your hair up.”
“Really? Then I’ll try it.”
Xu Xu removed the hair tie from her wrist and prepared to put her hair up.
But the moment she took it off, the man before her naturally moved closer and took it from her hand.
Xu Xu froze slightly. “You…”
Huo Hanshen lowered his head a little, his deep gaze fixed on her. His voice was low, carrying a trace of huskiness. “My wife, let me help you.”
As he spoke, he drew her into his arms. His long fingers slipped gently through her hair, carefully arranging each strand.
A faint scent of pine clung to him. Because he was so close, Xu Xu could smell it clearly.
Far too close…
Close enough for her to feel his solid chest against her body, and to hear the powerful thud of his heartbeat beneath it.

The tips of his fingers brushed unintentionally against Xu Xu’s scalp, sending a tingling shiver through her.
Heat spread between them, and an ambiguous atmosphere quietly descended.
Xu Xu’s earlobes had turned crimson. Not wanting the moment to become too awkward, she hurriedly changed the subject. “Um… how do you know my measurements so well? I don’t think I ever told you…”
At those words, Huo Hanshen’s hands paused for a moment. Then a low chuckle escaped his throat.
Finally, he spoke softly in a hoarse voice. “There’s no need to measure you. One glance is enough for me to know.”
The instant he finished speaking, Xu Xu felt the heat of his breath intensify. At the same time, she sensed something pressing against her abdomen…
Xu Xu: “…”
“My wife, is this all right?” Huo Hanshen murmured against her earlobe, his warm breath brushing over her ear.
Xu Xu’s heartbeat immediately quickened. She parted her lips. “I…”
But before she could finish, Huo Hanshen could no longer restrain himself and kissed her lips.
“Mmph!”
Damn him—she had not even said whether it was all right!
Yet before long, she too gradually surrendered to the deep kiss…
