Chapter 56: Sudden Heart Attack!
A cool, composed female voice cut through the crowd and reached everyone's ears. Immediately after, the doctor saw a strikingly beautiful woman walking up to him.
The doctor's eyes lit up.
"How much do they owe? I'll pay it for them," Xu Xu said, stepping in front of Su's father and mother, her voice cold.
The doctor looked Xu Xu up and down. My, what a stunning beauty...
"Well, well, it's not very convenient to talk right at the hospital room door." The doctor looked at Xu Xu with a smile, his eyes filled with thinly veiled lechery. "What are you standing around for? Hurry up and move the patient back inside. What if he catches a cold?"
The reprimanded security guards dared not speak their dissent and could only silently move Su Yi'an back into the ward.
"Alright, disperse, all of you! Gathering here and blocking others from seeing the doctor—can you take responsibility for that?"
The doctor shouted at the onlookers around them.
Only after the crowd had mostly dispersed did the doctor step into the ward and close the door behind him.
He had long heard that this poor couple had a pretty daughter, though she had never visited the hospital before... Now it seemed this beauty in front of him must be their daughter.
Talk about a phoenix emerging from a sparrow's nest!
"Miss Su, right? It's not that I can't continue treating your father's illness, but..." The doctor leaned in slightly toward Xu Xu. "You have to spend the night with me."
Xu Xu instantly frowned deeply and took two steps back.
Mother Su, seeing this, burst out in furious abuse, "What kind of filthy nonsense are you spouting, you old pervert? Besides, she's not my daughter, she's just a kind-hearted stranger passing by!"
With that, terrified that Xu Xu would be taken advantage of, Mother Su hurriedly grabbed Xu Xu and tried to push her toward the door. "Miss, run along quickly, don't get mixed up in this messy business of ours."
Would he let such easy prey slip right through his fingers?
The doctor quickly blocked the door, preventing Xu Xu from leaving.
"Who are you trying to fool? If she's not your daughter, whose daughter is she? Do you take me for a blind man who can't tell?"
The mother and daughter shared quite a few facial resemblances after all.
"Little beauty, I'm not cheating you. Just spend the night with me, and as for the medical fees, you can pay whenever you want—I won't hound you about it." The doctor stared greedily at Xu Xu. "Otherwise, you can just wait for your father to die!"
Xu Xu felt this was truly a sight for sore eyes, and she was so angry she laughed. "A person like you—"
"Ah! Old man, what's wrong with you?"
Mother Su's terrified scream interrupted the confrontation between the two. Turning back, Xu Xu saw Su Yi'an, lying on the hospital bed, clutching his chest with an expression of intense agony.
Startled, Xu Xu forgot all about chewing out this piece-of-trash doctor and rushed forward to check on Father Su's condition.
The closer she looked, the worse her expression became. "He's having a heart attack."
No sooner had the words fallen than the monitor beside them emitted a series of continuous beeps.
One glance at the electrocardiogram showed it was nearly turning into a flatline!
"What are you standing around for? Save him, quickly!" Xu Xu turned and glared furiously at the doctor. "Do you want to watch him die right here?"
Yet the doctor wore an indifferent expression. "You haven't even paid your medical bills in full. What does his life or death have to do with me?"
"You—"
"Doctor, I beg you, save my old man!"
Unable to care any longer about how despicable this doctor was, Mother Su panicked and dropped to her knees before him, kowtowing repeatedly. "I will definitely pay the medical fees later!"
"Hmph! Who cares about your miserable pocket change?"
The doctor kicked Mother Su aside, his gaze fixing back onto Xu Xu.
"I'm the only one who can treat this illness... You'd better submit to me, or else you'll just have to watch your father die right in front of your eyes!"
