Volume 1, Chapter 30: The Clear Sky and the Vitality of Spring (Part II)
Yun Weiyang pivoted on her heel, pulling Beiming Shaoqing aside to face Yan Xingjue head-on for the very first time.
His words were few, so the swan immediately filled in the blanks herself; in her understanding, they were the type of people who acted without needing reasons or seeking justifications.
At least fifty or sixty people were gathered within this tile-roofed house; to assemble so many in such a short time showed an incredibly efficient organizational capability.
Shen Qingqing had left no room for negotiation; if Zhang Tieniu and Grandma Zhang intended to take any action, she would truly go to the prefectural office to summon the guards.
Indeed, Li Bin flying backward was Li Xin’s handiwork. He had touched the reverse scale of Li Xin’s heart—a dragon has a reverse scale, and to touch it is to invite certain rage; that was the principle at play.
"Do you think your man is handsome?" Gao Ziyu, whose hand had been tucked beneath her head, curled his arm back to embrace her shoulders. Her skin was smooth and round, and his large palm rubbed rhythmically against her shoulder.
He wore a polite smile and said, "There is no need to trouble yourself; I will come back later." With that, he turned to leave.
"Let’s go, we should head up too." Once the elevator arrived, Lei called out to Pu Shangzhi, and they stepped inside together.
She did not know why she was angry, or what exactly she was angry about; whose fault it was, she could no longer tell. Seeing him so deliberately distant made her heart seethe with frustration.
"Well met!" the Eight-Clawed Demon King let out a piercing shriek. His massive body spun in mid-air, his eight arms waving like a gale, summoning a surging black storm that howled around him.
"Chuyun, it is not that I lack the power to annihilate you all; this is a warning. If you dare set foot on this land again, I will ensure your souls are scattered into nothingness!" The cold words carried a bone-chilling intensity that made Chuyun shiver violently.
The siege troops advanced slowly, forcing the main army to pace themselves accordingly. The area beneath Miaoshan Fortress had become a sea of blood; over half of the Fang Family Fortress’s eight hundred men had already been lost, and the survivors were all wounded. Xu Da charged toward the direction of Ma Xuanfeng, cutting down countless enemies, but for every foe that fell, more emerged to take their place.
Gu Lian caught the poor pillow and tightened her fist. This guy never missed a chance to spar with her, no matter the time or place.
Watching that hulking figure with its back turned toward him, Li Yang felt—for the first time since the Star Palace trials—a sorrow so profound it could never be dissolved, alongside an irrepressible, sky-high rage.
"Sayo? Sayo, are you there? Where are you, Sayo?!" Hearing Ieyasu’s tone, as if he were questioning Sayo directly, Tatsumi paused slightly before turning back to call into the darkened room.
Whenever she calmed her mind, Binglian would think of him; thinking of him became the happiest part of her day. So much so that while solitude was beautiful to her, it appeared as intentional distance to others—everyone, that is, except for Jingyuan and Zijin.
Picking up a chopstick, she deftly wrote a few characters in the sand of a copper basin using a Song-style script: "The moon represents my heart."
I do not know how much more time passed, but Li Yang, whose consciousness had been ascending infinitely, suddenly felt it plummet downward with a violent jerk.
What Li Lulu did was bring closure to their vows. Many years had passed, and these people had long since repaid their original debts, but it was only right that those who owed the debt should be the ones to settle it.
They did not ask why; they only knew that their grandmother would never harm them. Their curiosity regarding the matter was not particularly strong.
That fleeting moment of warmth was like sunlight piercing through the clouds, illuminating every corner of his heart.
Though their lives were simple, they were self-sufficient. It was a great stroke of luck that the beast-man raids half a year ago had not affected them.
In truth, Chuan'nan Province was full of scenic spots, some of which were exclusive filming locations for major blockbuster movies. Yunshan Village had never been chosen not because its scenery was lacking, but because it was too close to the Changshan city center, making it easy for fans to harass the residents and for photos of the site to be leaked.
The older child hugged his younger sister tightly. He was shivering too hard to speak, but he wanted to live—he truly, desperately wanted to live.
As the Mercedes E-Class slowly pulled away from the gates of Wang’s Construction Materials, a look of indifference hung on Yang Jian’s lips.
Seeing Wang Xuan in such a state, I quickly drove away, fearing that if he saw me again and coughed up more blood, he might just drop dead on the spot, which would be a huge headache. I was clearly the victim of the secret photography, yet now it felt as if he were the one being wronged.
These territories, much like Westmoreland, looked ordinary individually, but when viewed as a whole, it was a different story.
That night, not only did Liu Laogen and his wife sleep soundly, but even Liu Ying was finally able to rest easy. This was the hard sleeper section; passengers from the hard seat area could not simply wander in.
Examining it closely, it was a straight-edged ninja sword, short and thin, with four blood grooves on both sides, perfectly suited for assassination.
Countless questions swirled around Chen Yi. Sunrises and sunsets passed; Chen Yi remained still, leaning against the Type 3.5 Perpetual Motion Machine, lost in seven days of silent meditation.
Jiang Mingyue offered a faint smile and reached out to slowly pry open Liu Ruxu’s wrists. Liu Ruxu had been gripping them so tightly that her wrists were bruised purple.
Xue Yan was different from Su Yi; she was of the Manchu Bordered Yellow Banner, and her father was an army officer. She had known archery and horsemanship since childhood, and upon seeing a crossbow—which functioned much like a bow—she wanted to give it a try. Su Yi, however, understood none of this and simply stood to the side holding a candied hawthorn skewer, watching.
Fuma, the leader of the Iga, decided to perish with the ninja village. Yuji could not persuade him otherwise and had no choice but to leave the familiar Hattori in Fusang, instructing him to protect his master.
"Good, at least that is good news." Chen Yi stilled himself, waiting silently for a while before he felt his exhausted energy beginning to recover. He skillfully controlled the phase-shifting metal protecting his cheeks to open a small slit, allowing him to observe his surroundings.
"It’s in the past, it’s in the past. Grandpa, let’s not talk about those things; let’s turn the page," Chang Ning said, feigning a relaxed and carefree attitude.
Yun Rou beamed with joy, sticking her tongue out at Qiu Ruo. Qiu Ruo rolled her eyes but could not help but smile.
The orc clapped his two palms together with a thunderous sound, but Hua Shangling’s body did not spray blood; instead, it shattered into countless splashes of water. As it turned out, it was merely an image created by a water elemental.
This video featured a team of about thirty local ability users engaged in battle: some were responsible for diversion, others for offense, and some utilized various mental techniques, attempting to suppress the enemy on a psychic level.
