Chapter Twelve: Hosting a Grand Wedding Ceremony
"Yes, Grandpa," Jiang Wan said, reaching out to take Li Mu's hand. "Li Mu and I have only just met; we do need to get to know each other better."
Hearing this, the old man, who had been somewhat angry, exhaled deeply.
"Very well, after all, this is a matter for you young people. One month it is."
"In one month, I will hold a grand wedding here for you both!"
With that, the old man clapped his hands and laughed heartily.
Only Hai Yan’er’s expression remained tense.
Her daughter was marrying a scrap collector—how could she accept that?
Especially seeing Jiang Wan take Li Mu’s hand voluntarily only fueled her anger.
The old man had agreed. Her daughter was so outstanding and could have achieved so much more, yet she had to consider her grandfather’s wishes.
Hai Yan’er felt deeply unsettled.
Jiang Wan sensed her mother’s frustration and helplessness.
But she said nothing; after all, when the old man had made up his mind, who could change it?
Even if she didn’t want to marry Li Mu, she had no choice but to comply.
Jiang Wan smiled faintly and looked at everyone. "Li Mu just returned; I plan to take him for a little tour."
The old man nodded. "Very well, take Mr. Li out and get to know each other better."
With that, he hurriedly sent them off.
Now, he only hoped the two would get along well and settle on the marriage.
Jiang Wan led Li Mu to the car. Li Mu opened the door with a resigned expression. "This isn’t my choice. It feels like the old man is forcing me into this."
"Do you feel wronged marrying me?" Jiang Wan shot him a glare.
Li Mu shrugged. "You could always refuse."
Jiang Wan nearly laughed aloud. "Refuse? Do I look like someone who can say no? You want to marry me but still pretend otherwise."
Li Mu scratched his head awkwardly. "By the way, where are you taking me?"
"I'm in a bad mood, so maybe you should just keep quiet—you're making me annoyed!"
With that, Jiang Wan stepped on the accelerator and sped off. Li Mu, not having fastened his seatbelt, was pressed back into the seat by the force but managed to steady himself.
"Are you trying to get back at me?"
"I just saved your grandfather, and this is how you treat your benefactors?"
"Sigh, good deeds go unrewarded."
---
Jiang Wan glanced at Li Mu, who was covering his nose, and immediately showed concern.
"Sorry, are you okay?"
"I'm fine. But... where exactly are we going? We can't just drive around aimlessly."
Jiang Wan sighed. "Don’t worry, you’ll know once we get there."
Soon, the car arrived at a bustling area and came to a slow stop.
Li Mu looked around, puzzled. "Why are we here?"
"Aren’t we getting married? I think it’s necessary to have a proper conversation."
Li Mu... they had already talked plenty, why the need for more?
"Are you sure this is the place? I mean…"
Jiang Wan immediately understood his implication and got angry. "Li Mu, what exactly are you thinking?"
Her face flushed deeply, like a ripe apple.
She widened her eyes as if silently pleading, "Don’t say nonsense."
Li Mu shrugged. "We’ve already done that."
"You!" Jiang Wan’s face grew even redder as she reached to pinch his arm.
Li Mu dodged quickly and said seriously, "Alright, no more jokes."
"Aren’t we supposed to talk? Get out of the car."
He got out and headed toward a nearby café.
Jiang Wan squinted, watched him leave, then followed him inside.
The café wasn’t crowded; soft music played, creating a relaxed atmosphere.
Li Mu casually picked a seat, and Jiang Wan sat beside him.
A waiter approached with menus and handed them over.
"What would you like to order?"
"Two cups of cappuccino, please."
The waiter nodded. "Right away."
Silence returned as Jiang Wan brushed back her hair.
Her eyes lowered, her gaze shifting with a captivating charm.
After a short wait, the coffee arrived.
Li Mu took his first sip and immediately leaned back, eyeing Jiang Wan suspiciously.
"You brought me here, so I guess you want to talk about something. Well? Now that we’re here, aren’t you going to say anything?"
---
Li Mu’s words made Jiang Wan frown slightly.
Especially seeing how casually he acted, she grew more irritated.
After all, she was a top-tier beauty—how had she ended up with someone like him?
And why did her grandfather insist they get engaged and make her marry him?
Though she had considered marrying him, being forced into it felt different.
Moreover, this man was clearly a lowlife, a scavenger!
She was speechless.
She sighed helplessly. "Do you really want to marry me?"
Li Mu nodded. "Of course. You’re so beautiful, why wouldn’t I want to marry you?"
"Besides, even if I refuse, my old man arranged this marriage. He’s my master, so I have to listen to him."
"Oh, and this coffee tastes so good. Why aren’t you drinking yours?"
Jiang Wan frowned. "I’m not in the mood for coffee right now."
"Oh..." Li Mu said, then downed his cup in one gulp and even drank the coffee beside Jiang Wan.
"Also, now that we’ve... you know, I’ll take responsibility for you."
"Don’t worry! I’m not heartless."
Jiang Wan glanced at the cups, noticing their lip prints overlapping. She frowned slightly.
Her face flushed—whether from embarrassment or anger, it was hard to tell.
Beneath the blush was a fair complexion, like a tempting apple.
"You! That’s my cup!"
"Oh, it’s fine. It’s my wife’s cup; I wouldn’t mind."
"I never said I’m your wife! Don’t call me that in public!"
"Huh? Wife, the music’s too loud; I can’t hear you!"
Jiang Wan felt dizzy hearing Li Mu’s shamelessness. How could such a person exist?
He was unkempt, with a faint oily smell about him.
"I..." Jiang Wan was at her wit’s end.
