Yang Suying hid herself and her daughter as quickly as she could. The man smeared all the liquid onto the door and left with a clear conscience.

The Emperor’s Club.

Li Mu was currently sitting on a leather sofa, legs crossed, sipping a glass of wine with leisurely ease.

"Governor, it seems you’ve made quite a fortune over the past few years. This club is truly luxurious!"

The man on the floor, looking like a pile of sludge, nodded and then shook his head.

"Big Brother, if you want money, I have plenty. If fifty million isn't enough, I’ll give you seventy million!"

Li Mu sneered.

"Do you know who I am?"

The Governor struggled to open his eyes wide and shook his head.

"Then do you remember Li Huihui from back then?"

The moment the name Li Huihui was uttered, the Governor’s face turned deathly pale with terror.

"You mean that girl? What relation are you to her?"

Li Mu waved his hand and downed the rest of his wine in one gulp.

"What exactly happened back then?"

His voice was bone-chillingly cold, making the man feel as if countless ice needles were piercing his internal organs. The refusal he wanted to voice stuck in his throat; he dared not utter another word.

"I don't know what happened back then either. You know there was no surveillance in that place, and that woman... she couldn't describe the man's appearance at the time, so that was the only way we could rule!"

Suddenly, a wine bottle smashed heavily against the Governor’s head. Blood trickled down his scalp, mixing with sweat as it dripped onto the floor.

"I want the truth!"

"There really wasn't any surveillance! We did catch the man, but the woman insisted it wasn't the right person. There was nothing I could do!"

Not the right person?

Huihui would never lie. Could it be that someone saw the incident and hired a scapegoat halfway through?

"Later... later, someone bribed me, and I just turned a blind eye to the whole thing!"

Li Mu curled his lip, disgusted by how these people so callously disregarded the lives of the common folk.

"Where is the man you caught now?"

"I don't know. We never contacted each other again."

"And who was the person who bribed you?"

The Governor shook his head.

"I... I don't know! Our transactions were never face-to-face, and we only used cash."

This didn't sound like a lie; the trail seemed to have gone cold once again. Li Mu sighed helplessly.

"I’ll spare your life today, but this Emperor’s Club of yours is somewhat interesting. How about I buy it from you for one dollar?"

One dollar?

Damn it, even someone shooing away a beggar wouldn't be this stingy!

Li Mu seemed to notice the man’s reluctance; he tossed down a dollar and slapped the Governor’s bloated cheek. With just two slaps, several teeth spilled from the Governor’s mouth along with blood.

"Aside from this club, I also want one hundred million!"

What the hell? A dollar for a club, and he still wants a hundred million? What on earth was this man thinking?

Seeing the Governor still looking at him with that expression, Li Mu stepped up and stomped hard on his legs. The sound of shattering bone echoed through the room.

In the end, the Governor signed the transfer agreement and wired the money to the account number Li Mu provided. This was a classic case of choosing the hard way over the easy way!

There were no more clues here; staying any longer was useless. Before leaving, Li Mu grabbed Wang Yurou, who was nearby, and left with satisfaction. Why pass up a free opportunity?

Just as he stepped out of the Emperor’s Club, Li Mu’s phone rang. It was Li Huihui.

As soon as he answered, he heard his sister crying, and Li Mu felt a sharp pang of pain in his heart.

"Huihui, what happened?"

There was a long silence on the other end before Huihui’s aggrieved voice came through.

"Nothing, Brother. I just thought you didn't want me anymore, that's why I was crying. You don't need to worry about me; I’m at home taking care of our parents, don't worry!"

Although Li Huihui’s voice sounded normal, something must have happened at home.

"Don't worry, Brother won't abandon you. I will definitely heal your legs!"

After hanging up, Li Mu felt uneasy, but he had more pressing matters. He could only call Wu Qiming and ask him to send someone to check on what was happening at home.

At this very moment, inside the Jiang family villa, Jiang Wan had just sat down at her vanity when she received a notification that a large sum had been deposited into her account.

Another hundred million?

Did Li Mu go and rob a bank? How could a beggar like him possibly earn a hundred million in a single day?

Just as she was about to call Li Mu, the bedroom door was pushed open. It was none other than Hai Yan’er.

"Wanwan, Master Yan Kuan is here. Would you like to go down and see him?"

A look of displeasure instantly crossed Jiang Wan’s face.

"Mom, how many times do I have to tell you I don't want to have anything to do with him? Why do you keep letting him come to the house?"

"Daughter, I’m doing this for your own good. Do you want everyone in Cloud City to laugh at the Jiang family?"

Jiang Wan sighed. She had no choice but to tidy up her appearance and follow her mother downstairs. To her surprise, Jiang Yusheng was there too. Jiang Wan’s expression grew even more annoyed.

"Wanwan, hurry up and greet Master Yan!"

Hai Yan’er gave Jiang Wan a gentle push from behind, nearly causing her to fall into Yan Kuan’s arms. Fortunately, she steadied herself and avoided such an awkward encounter. She turned to look at her mother, feeling utterly helpless.

"Wanwan, today Master Yan is taking you and Yusheng out to dinner. Whether or not our Jiang family can establish a connection with Mr. Wu depends entirely on you!"

Hai Yan’er gave Yan Kuan a wink, and the two exchanged a knowing smile. Although Jiang Wan saw through it all, she figured her mother wouldn't harm her, so she followed Yan Kuan out of the house.

The luxury car soon arrived at the Emperor’s Club. Jiang Wan felt a start of surprise as she looked at the magnificent building. The owner of the Emperor’s Club had always been a mystery; no one knew their true identity. She had heard of the club, but not everyone could obtain a Supreme Card, and without one, you couldn't even step through the doors. The threshold for the Supreme Card was incredibly high; sometimes, even money couldn't buy it.

"Master Yan, will we be able to see Mr. Wu today?"

Yan Kuan shook his head.

"Mr. Wu rarely comes to the Emperor’s Club. But the person I’m introducing you to today is Young Master Chen. He is a favorite of Mr. Wu, and our family’s partnerships all rely on Mr. Wu to be finalized!"

Jiang Wan wanted to leave, but she was flanked by Yan Kuan and Jiang Yusheng, leaving her with no way to escape.

After finishing his call, Li Mu was planning to hail a taxi to check on his wife, but in the next second, he saw a familiar figure at the entrance of the club.

"Jiang Wan? Why would she be here at this time?"

Curious, Li Mu followed them inside.
