Chapter Six: To Think I Was Treated Like a Servant?

Before Li Mu could receive a response from Jiang Wan, Jiang Qing’s younger brother, Jiang Yusheng, suddenly spoke up. “Hey, you, come over here.”
Pointing at Li Mu, Jiang Yusheng’s tone implied importance. Thinking he was needed for something serious, Li Mu stepped forward.
“Go pour me a cup of tea. I’m parched. Hurry up and be quick about it!”
“Hey, who is this newcomer? When did he arrive? I don’t remember seeing him before,” someone remarked just as Jiang Yusheng handed a teacup to Li Mu.
Li Mu—???
Damn, was he really being treated like a servant?
Did he look that shabby?
Staring at the hovering teacup, Li Mu immediately withdrew his hand. He was here to treat illness, not to suffer humiliation.
Pour tea? As a prominent divine physician, others invited him to drink tea, but no one ever dared to force him to serve it.
Seeing Li Mu pull back, Jiang Yusheng grew displeased. How dare a mere servant show him such disrespect?
“Didn’t you hear me? I told you to go,” Jiang Yusheng urged again, his eyes full of irritation and impatience.
“Oh? You want me to serve tea?” Li Mu responded, his voice carrying a hint of sarcasm.
At once, everyone turned to look at Li Mu, as if staring at a fool.
In their eyes, Li Mu was just a servant. How dare he speak to them like that? Even the steward would be respectful.
No one would dare behave this way.
Jiang Yusheng slammed the table, pointing at Li Mu. “I told you to do it, so do it! You’re just a servant. Do you really think you’re someone?”
“To me, you’re no better than an animal—a beast lower than pigs and dogs!”
“Animal?” Li Mu narrowed his eyes slightly.
Few dared to insult him this way.
With his status, even the richest person would bow and beg him to have tea.
And now they wanted him to serve tea? This was utterly ridiculous.
“Are you deaf? I told you to pour the tea—don’t you hear me?” Jiang Yusheng shouted again.
“Do I need to repeat myself?” His anger flared as Li Mu remained unmoved. He glanced toward Jiang Wan and sneered, “Jiang Wan, if I’m not mistaken, this man came in with you. Isn’t he your servant? And this servant is so disrespectful.”

“Servant?” Li Mu pulled out a chair from nearby and sat down, face full of disdain. “You think you can make me pour tea just because of who you are?”
His words stunned everyone.
Who the hell was this guy, so arrogant? Didn’t he realize this was the Jiang family’s domain?
A woman with phoenix-like eyes snorted coldly. “Dressed so plainly, if he’s not a servant, then what is he? A beast, barking here—tsk, tsk, tsk.”
She then turned to Jiang Wan, her expression full of impatience. “Jiang Wan, next time you find a servant, get one with some manners. Don’t keep this kind of half-breed in the house.”
“He…he…is my fiancé,” Jiang Wan stammered.
She was somewhat afraid her parents would find out, since no matter how you looked at Li Mu, he seemed like an ordinary man.
The living room fell silent instantly. Everyone gaped as if they’d seen a ghost.
This was Jiang Wan’s fiancé? A beggar? Such a shabby person?
With Jiang Wan’s beauty and status, she could marry a powerful figure easily.
How could she possibly fall for this scruffy beggar?
Hai Yan’er immediately changed her gaze, even looking at Li Mu with disdain.
“Wan, is this really your fiancé? Isn’t he a beggar? Don’t scare your mother,” she said with a mocking tone.
“Yes, Wan, you’re worrying your aunt,” the woman with phoenix eyes added, patting her chest.
“Child, is he really your fiancé?”
Though she appeared worried, she was secretly delighted.
For many years, she had been unable to hold her head high in her own family, always overshadowed by Hai Yan’er.
If Hai Yan’er hadn’t married Jiang Qing, she wouldn’t be in such a miserable position.
When Jiang Wan’s grandfather met trouble, he rushed over—not out of concern, but to witness the spectacle and see Jiang Wan’s family embarrassed.
Jiang Yusheng shared the same sentiment.
The Jiang family had many descendants. Jiang Yusheng was Jiang Qing’s younger brother, and there were many other branches. They all envied Jiang Qing.
Jiang Yusheng envied his brother deeply.
If Jiang Qing was disqualified from becoming president because of Jiang Wan’s affairs, Jiang Yusheng stood a good chance of becoming the new president.
Then the entire Jiang family and company would be his!
“Yes, Wan, is he really your fiancé?”

Jiang Wan frowned. When had she ever lied?
“Don’t you believe me?”
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yusheng immediately displayed an awkward, somewhat foolish smile. “Not at all, it’s just… this guy doesn’t seem right for you.”
“Don’t you agree, big brother?” Jiang Yusheng said as he glanced toward Jiang Qing, whose expression was calm but whose eyes scrutinized Li Mu.
“Child…” Hai Yan’er began, but suddenly her vision darkened, and she collapsed to the floor.
Jiang Wan’s face turned pale. She hadn’t expected her mother to react so strongly—to faint!
She now regretted bringing Li Mu here.
Not because she regretted renewing the engagement with him, but because her parents needed time to accept it.
Her parents hoped she would marry a good man who could help the family, not someone as ordinary as Li Mu.
“Mom, are you alright?” Jiang Wan helped Hai Yan’er up anxiously.
“Do you even remember I’m your mother?” Zhang Haiyan gasped, her face extremely pale.
“I am not your mother! I don’t have an ungrateful daughter who casually picks a pretty boy! How can I face your father?”
Hearing this, Jiang Wan’s complexion grew even paler.
She bit her lip, looking pitiful and meek, nothing like the arrogant girl from yesterday.
“Sis, don’t be angry!” Hai Wen, the woman with phoenix eyes, stepped forward to mediate. “Wan, why don’t you soften up to your mother and call off the engagement? There are so many excellent men out there—why choose a pretty boy?”
She glanced at Li Mu with clear disdain.
Li Mu wore a simple tracksuit, his clothes faded from washing, and his shoes patched in several places—clearly a pauper.
What was the difference between him and a beggar? Surely he wasn’t hiding his true status intentionally.
“Little brother, what do you do for a living? How did you become our Wan’s fiancé?” Jiang Yusheng asked with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.
Li Mu sneered inwardly. If Jiang Wan hadn’t been polite to this man, he would have lost his temper long ago.
His status was such that a bunch of trash had no right to question him.
As for why he patched his clothes—it was simply because his master was stingy.
