Seeing that person mindlessly making things difficult, Tang Xi sighed. She exchanged a glance with Tang San, then reached out, pointed to her own head, and shook it slightly. Flattering the powerful, climbing upwards by stepping on the weak—this was the instinct of most commoners. Tang Xi no longer had the personality to stick her neck out. Her voice was soft as she said, "Gatekeeper, this is my younger brother. I can vouch for him—he truly possesses innate full soul power." The gatekeeper glanced at her with disdain. "So what?" Tang Xi sighed quietly and whispered, "During this break, I acquired my first soul ring and am now a thirteenth-level soul master." "S-so what?" The gatekeeper, not a cultivator himself, had little concept of soul levels and thought that being in the teens wasn’t very high. Before anyone could respond, a calm male voice cut through the stalemate: "The top student in the sixth year at Notting Academy is only at level sixteen. Tang Xi, a third-year student, has already broken through to level thirteen. If you force her and her brother out of Notting Academy, you’re not far from losing your job." A plainly dressed, unremarkable-looking man approached slowly. Seeing him, the gatekeeper’s expression turned slightly awkward but he still respectfully called out, "Master." The master scanned them calmly and said indifferently, "It’s settled then. You two, come with me." After bidding farewell to Old Jack, Tang Xi and Tang San followed the master through the academy gates. Tang San lagged a step behind and quietly asked, "Sis, were you treated with such disdain when you came here last year?" Tang Xi responded frankly, "I don’t remember exactly. The last gatekeeper stopped me too, but I got through." "She climbed the wall to get in," the master who was walking ahead added lightly, then turned back with a neutral expression and said, "Tang Xi, congratulations on obtaining your first soul ring." Tang Xi nodded slightly. "Thank you, Master." The master clasped his hands behind his back and asked casually, "Absorbing one soul ring usually only advances one level. You broke through directly to level thirteen—did the soul ring you absorbed exceed the 400-year limit of a first soul ring?" "Yes, I accidentally misread the year and it went over by just a bit." Tang Xi smiled gently but disliked talking to those who would pry deeply into her background. She took a step back and said to Tang San, "I have class now. Follow the master, and if anything happens, come find me on the third floor." Tang San nodded, still a bit confused, and followed behind the master.

But less than two hours later, Tang San rushed into her dorm, ears flushed red, nearly biting his own tongue as he blurted out, "Sis! There’s a girl in my dorm!" Usually calm and composed, Tang San’s eyes finally showed a hint of embarrassment. Tang Xi looked at the little rascal who entered without knocking and smiled lightly, "No girls in your dorm? Do you have rabbits instead?" Tang San suddenly felt a chill down his spine and quickly backed out, knocking properly before entering again. He emphasized word by word, "Sister, there’s a girl! In my dorm!" Tang Xi propped her head up with her hand, tapping her temple lightly. His reaction was off. Tang San had lived with her for a whole year. Although initially shy, they had become like real siblings by now. Wait a moment—Tang Xi sorted it out in half a second, her gaze suddenly threatening: "So when I lived with you that year, you never saw me as a girl?" Tang San immediately straightened up, eyes darting nervously. He muttered softly, "Not the same. She just slept next to me." "All work-study students share rooms anyway. It’s been years since female work-study students were recruited. If it hadn’t been for the two girls sharing a room last year, I’d have had to share a room too." Leaning against the window, Tang Xi yawned casually and tossed some fruit from her desk toward Tang San: "By the way, it’s harder for girls from poor families to become work-study students. Make sure not to make her feel bad. If she’s willing, let her move in with me. My roommate dropped out last year to help her family." Tang San caught the fruit, took a bite, then asked, "Do you know who that master was just now?" Tang Xi naturally knew. "Yu Xiaogang? That twenty-ninth-level great soul master? I heard he’s a friend of the dean, a talented youth who lost ambition and now just idles at Notting Academy." "But I feel like he’s no ordinary person," Tang San said, watching Tang Xi lift her cup, his eyes flickering. He cleared his throat and said, "I’ve already sworn him as my master." "Pfft—"

Tang Xi instantly spat out the water she had just swallowed. She coughed twice, looking at Tang San oddly. "You, a soul master specializing in soul power, took a scholar as your master?" Tang San, always resolute, nodded firmly. "Yes. He figured out I have twin martial souls right after we met, and he could tell from your soul power the age of the soul ring you absorbed. He must be the smartest person in this academy." "He figured out you have twin martial souls?" Tang Xi furrowed her brows deeply and stood up abruptly with a resolute expression. "I didn’t expect him to have that ability, but he’s only a twenty-ninth-level great soul master. I’m going to assassinate him tonight!" "Sis! That’s my teacher!" Tang San lunged forward, grabbing Tang Xi before she could leave, quickly adding, "And he said once I learn to cultivate soul power properly, he’ll take me hunting soul rings in the Star Dou Great Forest. From what I see, he’s not an enemy! He also told me there are no useless martial souls, only useless soul masters. He’s sure to find a way for me to cultivate even with my weak martial soul!" Forget the Blue Silver Grass; if you called the Haotian Sect’s martial soul useless, wouldn’t you risk angering their reclusive masters and getting hammered? Tang Xi covered her face and shook her head. Tang San could have been the Haotian Sect’s most outstanding disciple, personally mentored by the titled Douluo. But she always believed a person’s mentor shapes their life. Tang San following this master to become a knowledgeable scholar with self-defense skills, leading a peaceful and fulfilling life, was not a bad fate. Tang San cleared his throat softly, asking, "Sis, are you mad?" "No. Just don’t complain later that I took advantage of you once you learn the truth." Tang Xi sighed and patted his shoulder. "Sit cross-legged. I’ll teach you how to use soul power first."
