Chapter 48: Delivering Them Right to Our Doorstep
The two walked up to the tree and looked up, sizing it up.
The tree was quite tall and thick enough; bearing the weight of three people should be no problem at all.
Liu Hong frowned as she looked at the tree, feeling rather worried. "We're sleeping in a tree? What if we accidentally fall down? Won't we be killed from the fall?"
"Spending the night deep in the mountains means we have no choice but to sleep in the trees. You..."
As Qi Heng and his party drew closer to the torches of the pursuing enemy soldiers behind them, the situation ahead came clearly into view.
"Oh right, speaking of this craftsmanship, did Grandfather Tai ever teach you how to practice medicine and give injections? The kind involving surgery and intravenous drips?" Having asked this, Li Mao fixed his gaze straight onto Qiuxiang, his eyes filled with an unprecedented level of anticipation.
"Sister Jiang, are you heading back?" Yu Quanquan smiled. Jiang Zhi nodded, saying she hadn't been too busy lately and naturally wanted to return earlier.
"Indeed, the future is full of promise." Lumine looked at Zhongli, the only truly overpowered character in the game, Lord Zhongli.
"No way. You used to treat me well, but now you suddenly stopped. I want you to treat me just as well now." Yue Wuchan said coldly, "I miss you painting for me and listening to what I say. I really miss those times."
Jiang Zhi smiled and opened her mouth to speak, only to be interrupted by a phone ringtone. Yu Quanquan's name was displayed brightly on the screen.
Without realizing it herself, her singing was carried away by Venti's wind element to some unknown corner of the horizon.
"I don't have time to talk to you right now, go play by yourself." Jiang Zhi felt as though her head was about to explode. She had merely asked Lin Xi to conceal the news of her going on a trip, so how on earth did it turn into Mo Chengzhou selling off the company?
Yu Zhen's expression was somewhat odd, appearing not particularly happy, but rather filled with a great deal of astonishment. Yu Zhen, who usually blended into the background like an invisible person, was so startled that a pair of purple eyes revealed themselves, drawing frequent sideways glances from passersby.
She was currently homeless, so having a place to go was naturally for the best, but living with Ji Xinyan might bring about some unnecessary trouble.
"Hiss!" This sight made everyone present shudder involuntarily, and they all drew in a sharp breath of cold air. Tiemu Yun's strength was comparable to that of a Realm Lord of the Dusky Dust, yet he had slain two elders without the slightest hesitation or drag.
Just as Li Tianchou had anticipated, Zhou Nan's current predicament was extremely dire. That very afternoon, he had been suspended and isolated for internal review, under the pretext of a severe violation of criminal investigation discipline and gross dereliction of duty, which had resulted in the accidental death of a colleague. The suddenness of the incident left him, currently undergoing medical treatment in the hospital, with zero room to react.
Xiao Yue had never heard of, let alone witnessed, such a terrifyingly powerful individual. Every single step he took could shake the stars down, and separated by the expanse of ages, he could still injure Xiao Yue with his mere presence! "Is this what an peerless powerhouse is like?" Xiao Yue murmured to himself.
The next moment, just as everyone was searching for Pei Wufu's figure, a crisp snap echoed through the previously silent hall.
An Lingxi and I instantly sucked in a cold breath of air. We never expected this Blood Angel to be so overpowered, so I cast an appraisal skill on it.
"How did things go?" Although Zhu Lei's expression was unsightly, he still asked politely upon meeting. This made Li Tianchou feel slightly more at ease; the person before him who was the most resistant to authority seemed to be treating him quite well for the time being.
As her voice trailed off, Liu Que did not wait for the others to snap out of their daze, rising straight to her feet and walking out of the conference room.
She was quite satisfied with the current situation. If only she had met Brother Chu Feng earlier, Zhao Jing often thought, then she wouldn't have missed out on so many of her best years, and she could have traveled wherever she wanted to her heart's content.
Zhao Baoshu swung his steel saber, and the more than one hundred soldiers under his command, who had just formed a six-row spear formation, had the front two rows lower their spears, holding them leveled to face the enemy. The remaining swordsmen retreated to both flanks to provide cover.
The door was opened once more, and the first person I saw was my mother, Ye Yuqin! Yet she remained as youthful as ever, unchanged through all these years. Her appearance was certainly not that of a woman in her forties, and I had no idea why she could stay looking so young.
"We won! What else can you do to us now, you Devil Shen? Hahahahaha," Shao Wei shouted happily.
"Can't you even smile? Ever since I met you, even the way you speak has been ice-cold. I feel like you aren't living a happy life." Jony asked a question.
Tu Tianchi's heart skipped a beat when he heard him mention Mou Cheng, the former vanguard general of the Vanguard Army who had been cast into the heavenly pit by Xiang Shan. He didn't know what to say, nor was there time to say much more.
"I have this premonition that the Scorpion is not dead yet." Wang Manchun took out a photograph from the execution scene at the time. Her senior brother always managed to give people surprises; perhaps Ming Fan really was still alive, and if he was, she believed... he would also come to rescue their dearest eldest sister, hmph.
Logically speaking, Ivan and the others were currently at such close range to the mother bear and her cub that they should have quietly withdrawn from the scene immediately. However, having just set up their observation equipment without even catching a glimpse of this migration route yet, retreating now meant the time permitted by their mission probably wouldn't be enough.
Dongfang Yu took great care of Zhou Hui, helping her with everything out of fear that she would feel unaccustomed due to unfamiliarity.
Ye Zhen and Song Hu ignored all the traffic lights and drove straight to the entrance of the cell phone shop. "Damn it, the door is actually locked tight." Ye Zhen slammed his hand heavily against the steering wheel.
They sat cross-legged on several thick cushions, forming a sparse circle around a bonfire in the center, with pieces of venison resting on a bronze rack. It was evident the meat was not yet fully roasted, and several wine jars had already been emptied.
I couldn't help but stop in my tracks. Before I could even take a closer look, my stomach began to churn violently, and I started vomiting so badly that I couldn't continue running at all.
Hearing Xiao Xuan put it this way, many of the not-so-foolish young officers felt a sense of sudden enlightenment.
Qiu Qiu stepped out of the car. Because it was nighttime, the outside was pitch black, and apart from a patch of weeds, nothing could be seen. Terrified, Qiu Qiu hugged herself tightly.
Ursus had originally expected something to happen, but he hadn't anticipated that encountering his weapon would be so effortless.
