Chapter 69: Bai Jiahao's Revenge
“Heh, just wait and see!” Bai Jiahao’s gaze was cold and sinister as he glared at Lin Fan, as though he could devour him whole. But the moment he spoke, a chilling voice rang out from behind him.
“If you dare make a move, you might not even know how you’ll end up dead.”
Bai Jiahao’s lips twitched and he was about to retort in anger, but when he turned around and saw who it was, his expression changed instantly, anxiety and dread flickering across his face.
“Miss Su, what brings you here?”
“I’ve come to handle some business. My partner and I just acquired this company today. What, are you here to trouble my partner?” Su Juanmo’s eyes swept over Bai Jiahao with an icy indifference, like a lone wolf. The domineering and poised aura she exuded was so palpable that even Lin Fan felt a chill run down his spine.
“Partner? He’s your partner?” Bai Jiahao mumbled in disbelief, sizing up Lin Fan once more. He seemed to understand now why Lin Fan had spoken to him in that tone earlier—it turned out Lin Fan had Su Juanmo backing him up.
“What, do you have a problem with that?” Su Juanmo pressed, her presence overwhelming.
She hadn’t intended to come, but after considering that Lin Fan might be concealing his true identity, and knowing he’d be dealing with a notoriously troublesome and arrogant playboy, she decided to step in and help Lin Fan put Bai Jiahao in his place.
“No, not at all! Just a misunderstanding, really…” Bai Jiahao shivered involuntarily. No matter how brazen he was, he still felt apprehensive in front of Su Juanmo and even tried to curry favor.
The Su family was, after all, one of the two most powerful families in Hang City—a true pillar among the elite. The Bai family was a tier below, and with Su Juanmo present, Bai Jiahao dared not make a scene.
“Let me remind you—if you dare trouble my friend, I’ll make sure you regret it,” Su Juanmo said, each word striking the air like a gavel as she shot Lin Fan a sidelong glance.
“Understood, understood…” Bai Jiahao forced a smile, scratching his head.
As he was about to leave, Lin Fan spoke up, “And this check—your debt with Miao Tiantian is settled.”
Bai Jiahao hesitated for a couple of seconds, then, without another word, bent stiffly to pick up the check before leaving the office in silence.
As soon as he left, Su Juanmo turned to Lin Fan. “Judging by his face, I doubt this will be the end of it. I could call his father; he wouldn’t dare trouble you then.”
But Lin Fan simply shook his head.
“Someone as prideful and arrogant as him will never let this go. No matter how you warn him, it won’t matter. Believe me, he’s probably already having people wait for me in the underground parking lot.”
Su Juanmo frowned slightly, detecting a hint of challenge in Lin Fan’s tone.
“What, you want to play with him a bit?”
“I want to test my skills…” Lin Fan grinned mischievously.
Su Juanmo hesitated, then said nothing. In her eyes, these rich heirs seemed to do nothing but stir up trouble, bullying the weak and seeking out their own misfortunes. Lin Fan was no exception.
But she had no authority over Lin Fan. If he truly was the illegitimate son of Lin, the wealthiest man, his status far exceeded hers—and she had no right to interfere. Besides, Lin Fan was hardly the same as Bai Jiahao—perhaps he was simply itching for a fight.
Afterward, Lin Fan, Su Juanmo, and Shi Jie discussed some details, confirming that Lin Fan, as the majority shareholder, would not be involved in daily operations; he would remain behind the scenes, leaving all decisions to Su Juanmo and Shi Jie. Originally, Superstar Media held a third of the shares, but Lin Fan’s investment was so substantial, and with Su Juanmo joining, Superstar Media didn’t hesitate to sell their stake.
Lin Fan then had Miao Tiantian and Shi Jie sign exclusive contracts, planning to make Miao Tiantian the flagship streamer for Starlight Live. Naturally, the female streamers from his other company would join as well.
All the female hosts from Genesis Entertainment would move to Starlight Live, although they would do so in a multi-platform arrangement. These details would be handled by dedicated staff.
By the time Miao Tiantian finished signing, dusk was falling.
“Mr. Lin, thank you so much for all your help today. I really don’t know how to thank you enough,” she said as they left Starlight Tower side by side, her arm slipping around his in a gesture of intimacy, almost like lovers.
“It was nothing. You’re one of my people now—it’s only right I help you all the way,” Lin Fan replied casually.
But to Miao Tiantian, his words carried a strong hint of ambiguity and suggestion.
“Um… Mr. Lin, are you married?” she asked in a barely audible whisper.
Lin Fan stopped, turning to stare at her, realizing he’d been speaking too flippantly.
Though Miao Tiantian’s beauty was on par with Su Juanmo’s, and with a bit of effort she could rival top celebrities—her delicate charm could make any man’s heart race—Lin Fan had no such intentions toward her.
He simply saw Miao Tiantian as a money-maker for the company. Helping her out was no more than a simple gesture, perfectly reasonable.
He hadn’t expected her to misunderstand, thinking he wanted her as a lover—that was a bit awkward.
“I’m single, but…” he started to explain, when suddenly a group of thugs sprang from the corridor nearby.
Moments later, Bai Jiahao appeared from another direction, ascending the steps.
“I’ve waited so long for you to show up. I thought you’d be too scared to come out…” Bai Jiahao said, cracking his knuckles, his head swaying arrogantly, a sinister smile tugging at his lips.
Seeing this, Miao Tiantian instantly let go, hiding fearfully behind Lin Fan.
“You certainly have patience…” Lin Fan remarked, surprised at Bai Jiahao’s persistence.
“If you want to play, I’m happy to oblige! But I’m afraid you won’t have the guts… So what if you have Su Juanmo backing you? I’m not afraid of you. I bet you’re just another bootlicker she keeps around. I don’t know what tricks you used to get close to that ice-cold beauty, but it’s impressive,” Bai Jiahao sneered, unwilling to concede, though clearly surprised Lin Fan had gotten so close to Su Juanmo.
“Money works wonders…” Lin Fan replied with an easy smile, mocking Bai Jiahao in return.
Although Bai Jiahao was wealthy, he was stingy with women, and in the end, failed to win Miao Tiantian’s trust. If her family hadn’t suffered misfortune, Bai Jiahao likely wouldn’t have stood a chance.
“You’ve humiliated me, and now I’ll crack your skull! You’re nothing compared to me. Come on, cripple him!” Bai Jiahao could wait no longer and waved his hand.
“And after dealing with you, I’ll have my fun with her right in front of you, and post it online. That’s what you get for crossing me!”
At his words, the seven thugs surged forward, forming a tight circle around Lin Fan and Miao Tiantian.
