Seeing Chen Yanzi dash into the living room like a madwoman, Lin Fan’s heart immediately tightened. He was afraid she would cause trouble, so he hurried after her. But when he caught up, he was left speechless: Chen Yanzi wasn’t here to make a mess at all. She simply hadn’t had enough of acting crazy outside and now brought her antics inside.

She lounged on the sofa as if she were the mistress of the house, a satisfied smile on her face. For a moment, Lin Fan seriously considered whether he ought to take Chen Yanzi to a psychiatric clinic.

While Lin Fan was lost in thought, Chen Yanzi acted as though she had only just noticed him. She rose reluctantly from the sofa, walked over with the grace of a hostess, and spoke in a soft, gentle voice, “Honey, are you tired? Do you want to rest? What would you like for dinner?”

Lin Fan pressed his throbbing temple and took a deep breath, struggling to steady his emotions. He forced himself to speak calmly, “Chen Yanzi, get out right now. Stop acting crazy in here. If you don’t leave, I’ll call security to drag you out!”

Chen Yanzi, of course, wasn’t truly mad. She was merely putting on an act. Seeing that Lin Fan wasn’t swayed, she had no choice but to drop her virtuous-wife facade, looking at him with pitiful eyes.

“Lin Fan, I was wrong. Please forgive me, won’t you? It was my parents’ idea to ask for such a hefty betrothal gift. I didn’t agree, but how could I stand up to them? Don’t worry, they won’t dare ask for so much now.”

“Oh? Are they offering it for free now?” Lin Fan looked at Chen Yanzi, who was clinging to him, with a faint, mocking smile.

Chen Yanzi’s face stiffened at his words, but she forced a smile. “Lin Fan, what do you mean, free? Just give a token amount, something auspicious, and that’s enough.”

As she spoke, she blushed shyly. “Lin Fan, anyway, we’re almost married now. What we couldn’t do before, we can do now. I... I’m yours to command.”

Lin Fan stared at her for a moment, then shook his head, unable to express his feelings. “No need. We’re not almost married, and I have no interest in getting involved with a stranger.”

“Lin Fan, you...” Chen Yanzi hadn’t expected Lin Fan to reject her so bluntly. In desperation, she tried to kiss him herself.

Just as the two were struggling, the true mistress of the villa—Gu Qingcheng—returned, carrying a bag of groceries. She happened to see Chen Yanzi trying to kiss Lin Fan, only for him to dodge.

Gu Qingcheng set the groceries down and gave a cold laugh. “Oh, isn’t this the lady trying to sell herself? Still clinging to my boyfriend, I see?”

“You shameless homewrecker, how dare you talk to me?” Chen Yanzi hated Gu Qingcheng deeply. Upon seeing her, she immediately shifted her focus, grabbing Lin Fan’s hand and shrieking, “Lin Fan and I are almost married. You knew he was taken, yet you shamelessly got involved!”

“Almost married?” Gu Qingcheng was amused by the claim. Covering her mouth, she laughed for a long moment before recovering. “Almost married? Are you calling yourself the almost-wife who sneaked into the love nest of me and my boyfriend to seduce him? Auntie?”

“Auntie?” Chen Yanzi, a petite beauty since childhood, had never been called ‘Auntie’ by anyone. Enraged, she lashed out at Gu Qingcheng, “Who are you calling Auntie? You shameless homewrecker! This villa belongs jointly to Lin Fan and me. If you know what’s good for you, leave immediately, or I’ll throw you out myself!”

“Auntie, why the rush? First, you and my boyfriend broke up long ago. If I’m not mistaken, you were just trying to seduce him, weren’t you?” Gu Qingcheng crossed her arms and tsked. “What a pity. Even when you tried to seduce him, he didn’t respond. How sad for a woman to fall so far.”

Seeing Chen Yanzi’s face flush bright red, Gu Qingcheng continued, “Second, who told you this villa was jointly owned by you and my boyfriend?”

She walked to the side, took out the property deed, and thrust it in Chen Yanzi’s face with a smile. “Auntie, I made sure to hold it close so you can read the words clearly, just in case your age makes your eyesight poor. No need to thank me. Can you see the name now?”

Gu Qingcheng enunciated clearly, “The name on this deed is mine. As long as I haven’t broken up with Lin Fan—or even if I have, as long as he doesn’t try to reclaim the property—the villa is mine. Stop daydreaming.”

“You’re talking nonsense!” Chen Yanzi, who prided herself on being a beauty, rarely cursed. The fact that Gu Qingcheng had pushed her to such extremes showed just how much she’d been hurt. She raged, “Lin Fan is just playing with you. The one he really loves is me! I am the true mistress of the villa! You shameless homewrecker!”

The more Chen Yanzi spoke, the angrier she became. Back then, Lin Fan was her devoted admirer, impossible to drive away no matter how she scolded him. Now he had betrayed her!

She no longer bothered arguing with Gu Qingcheng and instead turned to Lin Fan, seeking support. “Lin Fan, hurry and tell that vile woman you love me! The villa is mine, isn’t it? You promised you’d treat me well forever!”

She poured out a torrent of words, but Lin Fan didn’t spare her a glance. His eyes remained fixed on Gu Qingcheng, and when she pretended to be angry, he immediately went after her to comfort her.

The two behaved as if Chen Yanzi didn’t exist, discussing what to have for dinner.

Gu Qingcheng was especially excited. “I’m quite the cook. Tonight, I’ll let you pick the dishes. Whatever you want, I’ll make it. How’s that?”

“Really, Chef Gu?” Lin Fan laughed too. He wrapped his arms around her slender waist, pondered for a moment, and said, “How about sashimi tonight? You lie on the table, and then…”

He chuckled mischievously, making Gu Qingcheng scold him playfully.

Their conversation grew increasingly lively, even edging toward topics unsuitable for children.

Chen Yanzi wasn’t stupid; she knew perfectly well Lin Fan and Gu Qingcheng were deliberately ignoring her to provoke her. But so what if she knew? She couldn’t very well act like a lunatic and cover their mouths to stop them from talking.

Stomping her feet in frustration, Chen Yanzi could no longer stand watching the pair. This time, without Lin Fan needing to say a word, she left the villa on her own.
