Chapter One Hundred and Twelve: I Won't Lie to You
The night was silent, with only the occasional delicate sound of water droplets falling among the trees.
“I was reckless just now. Please, my lord, punish me,” Yunwu said through gritted teeth as he knelt on the ground. Beads of sweat trickled down his forehead, his lips tightly pressed, color drained from his face. He seemed to be enduring great pain.
Zuo Qiu Liye stood silently, not rushing to respond.
After a long while, Yunwu finally collapsed from the pain.
“Let this be a lesson, Yunwu,” Zuo Qiu Liye said at last. A nearby attendant immediately stepped forward to support Yunwu. He had suffered severe internal injuries and broken three ribs from powerful internal force.
“This time, we were indeed careless. We need to consider our next steps carefully, Your Majesty,” said Elder Yue, dressed in a moon-colored robe. Standing beside Zuo Qiu Liye, his usually indifferent tone now carried a trace of seriousness and gravity.
Upon closer inspection, the moon-colored robe was no longer perfectly smooth as before; it bore some wrinkles and suspicious tears.
He and the sovereign had split their forces—Zuo Qiu Liye pursued Xuexue, while Elder Yue secretly chased the Regent Princess of the City State. Unexpectedly, the City State’s Regent Prince appeared midway, catching him off guard.
He glanced at his robe—the one he cherished most.
“Elder Yue is right. With war imminent between the two nations, His Majesty must return to command,” Gong Shen Ling’er said clearly, looking at Zuo Qiu Liye. “As for that blind woman, once we break through Ji State, she will be no obstacle.”
Her words carried a sense of confidence, her eyes filled with determination.
“I am not in a hurry. Although Ji Wuqing currently outmatches me, at least his palace is on fire,” Zuo Qiu Liye said with a dark expression. In the night’s shadow, his face took on a sinister charm, his tone tinged with gloom.
Today’s events struck him hard—he hadn’t expected Ji Wuqing to arrive so swiftly, leaving him nearly powerless to resist. It was hard to imagine the threat if Ji Wuqing allied with Cheng Feng.
But so be it. Ji State was beset by troubles within and without, barely able to fend for itself. He was curious how long Ji Wuqing could protect Xuexue.
When they met again, one of the two kingdoms would surely fall, its lands shattered. He wondered how Xuexue would choose then.
“Elder Yue, what did Your Majesty mean about the fire at Ji State’s palace?” Gong Shen Ling’er asked with some puzzlement as the group prepared to leave Ji State.
“I would like to know that as well, young master. But if something has happened at the Ji palace that even King Ji cannot handle, it will certainly be interesting,” Elder Yue smiled faintly and followed Zuo Qiu Liye, leaving a troubled expression on Gong Shen Ling’er’s face.
“Your Majesty, although we rescued the young master, Elder Jin is still in the hands of King Ji and his men. This will be difficult,” Elder Yue said thoughtfully, his face calm, as ifI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
