Chapter 152: The Premiere! [Third Installment]
"Did you write this show's theme song?"
Hearing Yu Zhele humming, Zhou Jian walked over from the neighboring house and asked curiously.
Yu Zhele responded, "I'll need to have you guys help me record it in a few days. With only two weeks left until the show airs, time is still pretty tight."
Zhou Jian said, "That's fine, but this song probably needs the kids to cooperate too, right? My son is okay, but I'm worried your kids are too young and it'll be hard to get them to cooperate."
Yu Zhele nodded and said, "It is pretty difficult, but I've already collected most of my daughter's vocals at home, so we can just mix them in later!"
Zhou Jian praised, "The main reason I agreed to join this show was hoping to chat with you about music and stuff! I never expected that even though you only planned this show recently, you've already got the theme song ready!"
Yu Zhele said, "Actually, it's been quite a while. From when the show was first conceptualized to coming here for recording, half a month has already passed."
"You consider that a long time?"
Zhou Jian smiled bitterly and said, "For other variety shows, just the planning and preliminary preparation take a few months. You managed to arrange this show in half a week—that speed is already invincible, alright!"
At this moment, Qin Haiyu was teaching the baby, "Baby, say hello to Uncle Zhou."
The baby obediently piped up, "Hell-lo Uncle~"
Zhou Jian gave an honest smile and said, "Your daughter is truly well-behaved and sensible! My son is already five years old, and he's still like a stubborn wooden stake. He doesn't greet people when he sees them, which makes him seem really impolite."
Yu Zhele said, "Maybe it's because you two are busier and spend less time accompanying your child! As for my daughter, we accompany her every day and teach her how to speak, so she's very well-behaved."
"That's true!"
Zhou Jian sighed with emotion, "Busy with work, busy making money—by the time I get home, I hardly have any time to chat and play with my child. That's why my son is closer to his mother; he has a lot to say when he's with her, but nothing to say when he's with me."
Yu Zhele then said, "That's easy to fix! I'll give you a book, and I guarantee that after tonight, your son will have plenty to talk about with you!"
Zhou Jian asked curiously, "What book?"
Yu Zhele replied, "It's my new children's book. It hasn't been published yet, I'm planning to release it together after the show airs!"
Zhou Jian said awkwardly, "I thought you meant something you wrote! I almost forgot you've also published children's books!"
Qin Haiyu walked back inside to fetch a book her husband had deliberately brought along. Handing it to Zhou Jian, she said, "These are all children's stories. When it's time for bed at night, you can tell them to your child. Even though our baby doesn't understand a lot of the words yet, she looks forward to us telling her stories every single night."
"Alright, then I'll try telling my son a story tonight too!"
Zhou Jian took the book from Qin Haiyu's hands, feeling even more admiration for Yu Zhele in his heart!
Just think, this guy was more than a decade younger than him! Yet look at how awesome he was! He could even write a thick book of children's stories!
If it were him, he definitely didn't have that kind of capability!
After accepting the book, he walked back to his house and said, "Then I won't disturb you family of three stargazing here any longer!"
Yu Zhele continued teaching the baby how to sing:
"Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are..."
Listening to the chirping of insects and the croaking of frogs, and feeling the breeze of the countryside, Yu Zhele's family of three thoroughly enjoyed this peaceful atmosphere of life.
Xu Ling went to the banyan tree at the entrance of the village to dance square dance with the elderly folks. After all, when it came to weight loss, persistence was key.
Otherwise, if she stayed in this countryside for a month or two, she felt sure she would bounce right back to her original weight!
...
The next morning.
After the village rooster crowed twice, Yu Zhele and his wife woke up almost simultaneously.
They both had a very sound and sweet sleep last night. The air in the countryside was simply refreshing; taking a single breath made it feel as though their entire lungs were rejoicing—it was wonderfully exhilarating.
Qin Haiyu asked, "Husband, did you get enough sleep? Why did you wake up so early too?"
Yu Zhele said, "I'm fully rested! I originally thought I would suffer from insomnia and feel uncomfortable sleeping in a strange place on an unfamiliar bed, but I actually slept more soundly than I do at home!"
Qin Haiyu smiled and said, "That's because the baby slept soundly. If the baby had woken up in the middle of the night, we wouldn't have been able to sleep soundly either."
"That's true!"
Yu Zhele gently patted the baby's little head, pulled the blanket back over her after she had kicked it off, and said, "I didn't expect the baby to adapt to this unfamiliar environment so well, and she even slept more soundly than we did!"
Qin Haiyu combed her hair and said, "Probably because she was a little tired from walking around the village during the day, combined with the good air and comfortable environment here, so she slept more peacefully."
After changing into fresh clothes, Yu Zhele and his wife finally stepped out of their room. Since fixed cameras were installed not only inside the rooms but also in the living room and at the front door, they wanted to make sure they looked presentable before heading out.
As soon as the lights in their room turned on, a cameraman with a camera on his shoulder walked over shortly after, saying he wanted to capture what the baby looked like while sleeping.
Yu Zhele led the cameraman into the room. In this show, the children received the most screen time, so apart from their privacy, the cameramen eventually recorded all other daily aspects of the children's lives.
After all, this was a lifestyle-oriented parenting show, and these warm, everyday scenes were indispensable.
After filming a segment of the baby sleeping, the cameraman quietly slipped out, terrified of waking up the little cutie.
Then they waited outside for the celebrity parents of the other three families to wake up, going one by one to record the sleeping postures of the remaining three children.
Qin Haiyu then said, "Husband, it's only five o'clock! I thought it was six or seven."
Yu Zhele walked out to brush his teeth and said, "The roosters here crow pretty early! They start crowing at five."
Qin Haiyu asked, "Husband, do you think the neighbors in the village have any flour? It's still so early, if we can get some flour, we can make some vegetable buns. We still have quite a bit of leftover vegetables from yesterday, after all!"
"Sure, I'll go ask!"
After brushing his teeth, Yu Zhele went door-to-door asking early-rising villagers. Perhaps because the program team had brought liveliness and plenty of relief subsidies to the village, an auntie who didn't have flour at home took Yu Zhele to knock on other neighbors' doors, successfully helping him score a large bag of flour.
And so, early in the morning, Yu Zhele, his wife, and Xu Ling started making buns.
Since Xu Ling was essentially extra manpower, the cameraman kept filming close-ups of Yu Zhele and his wife, barely including Xu Ling in the frame at all.
An hour later.
The sky was already quite bright. Zhou Jian walked over for a visit, yawning with heavy panda eyes. Giving a thumbs-up, he said, "Bro, you're amazing! Last night I read stories to my son using your book, and he got so hooked that he made me tell him stories the entire night!"
"Haha, then you must have used the wrong tone while telling the story!"
Yu Zhele laughed and said, "Other people tell stories to induce sleep, how did yours end up doing the exact opposite?"
With drowsy eyes, Zhou Jian said, "If you have any conscience left, save a couple of bites of breakfast for our family! I can't hold on anymore, I need to go back and catch up on some sleep!"
Qin Haiyu smiled happily and said, "We steamed a ton of buns, just come on over and eat when they're ready."
"Then I won't stand on ceremony with you guys!"
Zhou Jian hurried back to catch a nap, otherwise, there was no way he would be able to record today's show.
Just like that, two weeks passed.
*Where Are We Going, Dad?* finally ushered in its premiere!
