Yang Bing walked over and asked, “Director Zhang, you wanted to see me?”

Director Zhang replied sternly, “Cai Lanlan has done her investigation and says that this Mr. Panda isn’t a piano instructor at Star Entertainment University at all! That leaves us with only two possibilities: either you’re lying, or Cai Lanlan’s information is wrong!”

Yang Bing admitted honestly, “Alright, he’s not a piano teacher. He’s a student in the music department at Star Entertainment University, just like me.”

Director Zhang pressed further, “Has he debuted yet? Is he famous?”

Yang Bing gave a wry smile. “Director Zhang, I can’t say anything about that! But you can rest assured; he’s clean. He won’t jeopardize the gala, much less our television station.”

Director Zhang asked, “So why are you unwilling to reveal his name or identity?”

Yang Bing replied, “Because I promised to keep it confidential for him.”

Director Zhang was puzzled. “I don’t get it. If he’s clean and there’s no problem, why won’t he even reveal his name?”

Yang Bing answered, “Maybe he just doesn’t want fame! So please, don’t ask me anymore. Unless he chooses to reveal his identity himself, I won’t tell you!”

“Alright, get back to your work, then.”

Director Zhang was at a loss, but since he now had a general idea of the man’s background, his curiosity faded.

Elsewhere, Cai Lanlan frowned again as she received the production team’s reply.

First, they said he was a piano teacher at Star Entertainment University, and now they say he’s a student there!

It felt as if they were toying with her.

There are only a handful of teachers, so finding out who it is wouldn’t be hard. But with so many students, how could she possibly discover who Mr. Panda really is? It was like searching for a needle in a haystack.

“Damn it!” Cai Lanlan muttered through clenched teeth. “Just who is this mysterious figure? To think he could compose such outstanding piano pieces!”

At home.

After her shower, Qin Haiyu emerged to find Yu Zhile sitting in the living room, scrolling through Weibo on his phone. “Honey, I’m trending!”

His mother, busy looking after her granddaughter, asked curiously, “But you didn’t even attend the gala. How could you be trending?”

Qin Haiyu walked over and explained, “Mom, he did participate in the gala.”

His mother was puzzled. “But I didn’t see him on TV.”

Yu Zhile asked, “Mom, did you watch the piano performance?”

His mother suddenly exclaimed in surprise, “You’re telling me that the guy dressed like a panda was you?”

Yu Zhile grinned. “That’s right, it was me! Surprised? Unexpected?”

His mother was genuinely taken aback. “Why did you take part in the gala?”

Qin Haiyu explained, “He was filling in at the last minute. The celebrity who was supposed to play the piano couldn’t make it, so he called in a friend and secretly took part.”

His mother asked, “Were you paid for the appearance?”

Yu Zhile joked, “They’d rather not pay me at all—never mind about an appearance fee!”

Just then, Yang Bing sent a message.

“The director’s team and Cai Lanlan keep asking about your identity! I said you were a piano teacher at our university, but Cai Lanlan went and checked and found out you’re not a piano teacher there!”

Yu Zhile read Yang’s message and laughed. “Now it’s not just the internet who’s curious about me—even Cai Lanlan is asking the production team about my identity!”

Qin Haiyu exclaimed, “Is Cai Lanlan so eager to know who you are because your five piano pieces stunned her?”

Yu Zhile boasted, “Or maybe she’s been dazzled by my irresistible charm and good looks!”

“Shameless!” Qin Haiyu smacked her husband’s shoulder, then asked, “So, are you going to reveal your identity?”

“I won’t show my face, but revealing my identity is fine,” Yu Zhile replied, texting Yang Bing back: “It’s fine. If they ask, just say it’s me—Qin Haiyu’s husband.”

Yang Bing was puzzled and typed, “Didn’t you want to keep it secret?”

“I’m home now, no need for secrecy anymore.”

After reading Yu Zhile’s response, Yang Bing returned to Director Zhang and said, “Actually, Director, Mr. Panda is Qin Haiyu’s husband!”

“Oh,” Director Zhang replied absentmindedly, then suddenly jolted in shock. “What! Qin Haiyu’s husband?”

At that moment, it wasn’t just Director Zhang who was stunned—the other backstage staff and the hosts who had come offstage were equally dumbfounded.

That enigmatic Mr. Panda was actually Qin Haiyu’s husband?

Director Zhang, astounded, asked, “You know Qin Haiyu’s husband?”

Yang Bing half-truthfully explained, “He graduated from Star Entertainment University as a music major, just like me. Since Qin Haiyu was coming to the gala, it was natural he’d be at the venue. So when Cai Lanlan couldn’t make it, I thought of him—after all, he was quite the talented musician back in college. I reached out to see if he could step in for Cai Lanlan.”

He didn’t mention being classmates or close friends; after all, he’d been responsible for inviting Qin Haiyu to the New Year’s Eve gala, and the astronomical 15 million yuan appearance fee was negotiated by him. If he claimed to be close to Yu Zhile now, the director and the executives might suspect collusion and inflated fees.

Director Zhang didn’t consider any of that; he was simply amazed that Mr. Panda was actually Qin Haiyu’s husband.

He suddenly patted Yang Bing on the shoulder in admiration. “This unexpected turn really worked out well! Who would’ve thought Qin Haiyu’s husband’s piano skills would be so impressive! Is he really a novelist? He feels more like a musician to me!”

Yang Bing gave a bitter smile. “Perhaps that’s what genius is. He’s a renowned novelist, and yet when it comes to music, he can compose so many popular hits.”

Director Zhang suddenly grew curious. “Is Qin Haiyu’s husband ugly or something?”

“Huh?”

“No, he’s actually quite handsome!”

“Then why won’t he show his face or reveal his identity?”

Yang Bing replied, “Maybe it’s because one of them focuses on the public, the other on the private side? Or maybe he just doesn’t want fame.”

“Weird!” Director Zhang still couldn’t make sense of it.

Soon, after Yang Bing revealed the truth, the backstage celebrity guests were just as shocked.

“Mr. Panda is Qin Haiyu’s husband? Is that for real?”

“Absolutely! The director’s team confirmed it!”

“My god, that means Qin Haiyu’s husband is incredibly talented!”

“So I guessed wrong, then?”

Still stranded at the airport, Cai Lanlan stared at her phone, then muttered in disbelief, “Mr. Panda is Qin Haiyu’s husband? Zifeiyu? Yu Zhile? So ‘Nocturne in the Night’ was actually composed by this eunuch dog?”
