Chapter Thirty-Four: The Sin of Killing
Tao Lu even raised her middle finger. She could imagine how ugly the faces of the higher-ups on the human side must look. Watermark advertisement test. Watermark advertisement test. Just like Gong Kui!
Xia Yan could not help but smile bitterly. That was Tao Lu—the girl who had once dared to point a gun at Levin, the girl who had never feared the future. She had never changed.
Xia Yan had thought that his own actions were already outrageous enough, but Tao Lu was in no way inferior to him.
As former partners, the two of them truly had a rapport that was astonishing.
Even when the road ahead was a dead end, someone in this world still stood beside him, unafraid of the violent winds and torrential rain ahead.
A trace of warmth spread through Xia Yan's heart.
“Tao Lu, your clansmen have died here. The people above will be furious. Such a high casualty count will put you at a disadvantage,” Xia Yan said with amusement. “I don't need them to help me. As long as they don't get in my way, that's enough.”
“Hm?” Tao Lu smiled.
“Have them withdraw two thousand meters. They must not cross the line. If they die, I won't be responsible.” Xia Yan's tone was serious.
“All right.”
Tao Lu turned around and gave a few instructions to the four winged ones. They were sensible enough not to ask any questions, quickly flying backward and keeping more than two thousand meters between themselves and Xia Yan.
At last, the battle was about to begin.
Xia Yan looked at the forces that remained: five humans, three werewolves, three angels, and a representative of the demon clan. They all wanted to take advantage of the situation and kill him.
“Apart from the five humans, this is your final chance. Get out beyond two thousand meters immediately. I'm giving you ten seconds.”
Xia Yan's voice was not loud, but he made certain that all twelve people could hear him.
His words had made one thing perfectly clear: apart from the five humans, he was not planning to spare anyone.
As Gong Kui had said earlier, it was already too late. Because Chai Guan had done something unforgivable, Xia Yan had decided to kill them all.
So what if they were human?
Did he intend to spare them merely because he was human himself?
How many humans had he already killed?
No one believed him. He was still as arrogant as ever—one man, one blade, and the conviction that he was invincible beneath heaven. Yet Xia Yan's words had also shaken their hearts, filling them with fear.
The five humans looked grim. They had never expected Xia Yan to be so arrogant, or to single out all five of them with such hostility.
They were furious. It was true that the five of them wanted to kill Xia Yan, but Xia Yan refused to obediently offer himself up to be killed. He even intended to resist.
It was simply outrageous!
Of the ten seconds he had given them, no one retreated during at least the first five. But in the final five seconds, one of the werewolves suddenly lost his nerve. His brain-domain development had not yet reached forty percent. Faced with a terrifying god of slaughter like Xia Yan, how could he possibly survive?
His captain shouted several orders, but still could not stop him from retreating.
In the face of the fear of death, so-called orders were nothing more than a joke.
Xia Yan glanced at him and decided not to kill him. Everyone else, however, would die here.
Xia Yan moved. The instant he did, he activated his second ability: Demon.
His face became covered in countless profound runes and ancient markings. A layer of gray substance enveloped his body, while a pair of black wings grew from his back. His entire appearance became eerie and terrifying, completely at odds with that of a human.
The demonic ability—the most powerful bloodline ability!
Even Extreme Amplification, the mutation ability with the greatest amplification, was nothing compared to the demonic ability. No, it could not even be called dregs.
Xia Yan swept forward like a violent gale. The first person he targeted was a human from the Fierce Fang Squad. The man wore combat armor, and a prominent scar marked his face.
“Who provoked Lan Xin earlier? I'll give you three seconds. Speak!”
The scarred young man saw only that the “demon” had suddenly appeared beside him, a blade in hand. The creature's face was so ferocious that it could keep anyone awake at night.
Three seconds passed, but the scarred young man, paralyzed by terror, still said nothing.
“Die!”
Xia Yan slashed into the empty air. It was an instantaneous strike that unleashed his full power.
The scarred young man reacted immediately. He was primarily a defensive ability user, possessing two defensive abilities. One was an energy-based protective barrier; the other was a mutation-type enhancement that hardened his body.
He activated both abilities at the same time.
The ever-changing blade, wreathed in gray flames, shattered the yellow energy barrier in an instant before driving straight toward his head.
“No!”
Terror filled the scarred young man's features. He could not believe it. He was a defensive ability user, and his defenses were extraordinarily powerful. They should never have been broken so easily.
Yet now they had been destroyed with ease—by Xia Yan, who had not even reached the rank of a five-star ability user. How could anyone believe such a thing?
He had no time to scream, no time to run, no time to flee for his life. In that single instant, his head was sent flying. Blood sprayed into the sky as his head and body were completely separated.
The headless corpse crashed heavily to the ground, while the fallen head still wore the same expression of terror.
It was an unbelievable sight: a defensive ability user had been killed by Xia Yan with a single stroke.
The gap in strength was so vast that even struggling had become a joke. No one could believe that Xia Yan was this powerful.
Was Xia Yan a five-star ability user?
No. Even five-star ability users were no match for him.
Only the strongest and most exceptional five-star ability users had any hope of fighting him.
Yes. This was the level of strength he was displaying now.
Xia Yan next appeared before the yellow-clad man on the human side, a combat-type ability user.
He asked the same question: Who had provoked Lan Xin? Something had gone wrong with Lan Xin's condition, which meant that someone had deliberately manipulated her. That person had to be one of the five humans.
“I—I don't know. We're all human. Let me go!”
The yellow-clad man's features were distorted by terror, and his voice trembled violently.
“I would have liked to let you go. But that would require you not to have tried to kill me.” Xia Yan's tone was cold and indifferent. “Unfortunately, the humans wanted me dead. You shouldn't expect me to spare you.”
The blade rose and fell. The yellow-clad man tried to resist, but the difference in power was simply too great. His attack could not even hinder Xia Yan.
With his physical development having surpassed thirty-six percent, Xia Yan had completely transformed into a god of slaughter.
The yellow-clad man died a gruesome death, his face frozen in disbelief.
Eight seconds had now passed. Two humans were dead.
During this process, the black-haired woman on the human side attacked Xia Yan with her mental ability. Unfortunately, the gray flames surrounding Xia Yan blocked it, and it could not cause him the slightest harm.
She was terrified. Since when had the Fierce Fang Squad become so weak?
