Chapter 144: The Mysterious Entity That Escaped Suppression (1/9)
A gray light enveloped his entire body, and a strange sizzling sound emerged, like cold water poured into a hot wok, billowing a vast amount of gray mist that completely concealed him within it.
On the other side, increasingly terrifying tremors came from underground. Bizarre creatures emerged from the earth, launching attacks on everyone present.
These monsters were mostly humanoid, featuring ferocious bone spurs and sharp claws and fangs. Some possessed reddish-brown fleshy wings and scaly tails.
Even the weakest among them was equivalent to a top-tier fierce beast, while the strongest possessed the strength of an evolutionary being, boasting horrifying speed and sheer power.
Fortunately, this was Molent, and the hundreds of people present were all Fate Spirit Masters, entirely unfazed by the attacks of these monsters.
One by one, the students summoned totems of various forms, instantly transforming the place into a paradise of totems. Hundreds of totems engaged in a chaotic melee, with various lights swirling about.
Flames, sonic waves, venom, sharp arrows, and numerous other attacks manifested, any single one of which could instantly kill an ordinary human.
Yet, not a single monster dared to approach Sher's location. Even the Fate Spirit Masters were keeping as far away from him as possible, leaving only Garfield and Joseph watching him continuously.
"Sher, I never expected you to hide so much from me. Why did you do this?" Behind Garfield, a gigantic beast slowly materialized, making his short stature suddenly appear tall and upright.
That colossal beast looked somewhat similar to a Tyrannosaurus rex, standing nearly twenty meters tall with a tail matching its height. Its entire body was covered in a layer of amethyst-like scales, save for its white underbelly.
What drew the most attention was a row of sharp, dark golden horns on its head, wreathed in faint wisps of smoke, clearly possessing extraordinary abilities.
"Teacher, I do not wish to make an enemy of you. Haven't you figured it out yet? It is clearly your actions that caused this disaster; I am merely an innocent person dragged into it." Sher shrugged helplessly.
The Moon Child strode forward, blocking the path of the giant purple beast, though it did not launch an attack.
"Teacher, someone seems to have set the monster at the very bottom free. Aren't you going to go take a look?" Sher pointed downward, as a bizarre and terrifying aura slowly spread upward from the depths of the earth.
"Those bastards, they actually dared to unleash it!" Garfield's expression shifted drastically. Finally losing his previous composure, he stared at Sher with extreme astonishment. "Who on earth are you? Why do you know so much?"
"Well, I am naturally your student, of course—I just happened to know a little bit more than others." Sher wore a smile, shook his head, and sighed. "I also know that imprisoned on the ninth level below is a miraculous alien beast possessing unimaginable abilities, whose power far surpasses ordinary third-tier Fate Spirit Masters."
"You!" Hearing this, Garfield grew even more alarmed.
What outsiders did not know was that the initial purpose of the entire central laboratory's existence was precisely to suppress a certain unimaginable entity.
It was distinct from any creature in this world; even the various legendary totems bore no resemblance to it. It was completely unique, possessing terrifying abilities comparable to the devils of myth and legend!
"Hmm, that entity seems to have grown stronger once again." Sher furrowed his brow, faintly sensing a certain sense of crisis, making it clear that the other party could inflict harm upon him.
At that moment, several Fate Spirit Masters near the underground passage suddenly underwent astonishing transformations, actually driving their own totems to attack their companions!
The battle, which had previously been relatively safe, instantly turned brutally cruel. Fate Spirit Masters died tragically one after another under the attacks of totems belonging to those who had fought side by side with them just moments before, throwing the scene into absolute chaos.
Even more startlingly, Joseph, who had previously maintained an imposing and calm demeanor, also underwent a sudden shift, manipulating his own totem to attack the ultimate-form totem of his nearby companion.
The massive black ape swung its razor-sharp claws, violently driving them into the back of the opposing grizzly bear totem beast, while its other claw plunged in right behind it.
Then, the fifteen-meter-tall black ape strained with both claws, ripping the grizzly bear alive into two halves, which dissipated into countless fragments!
"What are you doing?!" The other person cried out in absolute terror, never expecting that a friend of several decades would deal him a fatal blow.
Yet Joseph's expression remained icy, as if all emotional fluctuations proper to a human had been wiped away, leaving behind only a desire for slaughter.
After eliminating the opponent's primary totem, he without hesitation commanded the black ape to strike down the man himself, bringing a massive palm two meters in diameter crashing ruthlessly downward.
Boom!
A dark shadow slammed in explosively, shattering the black ape's giant palm like a cannonball and violently deflecting it off course, sending it crashing into a wall and gouging out a huge hole over ten meters wide.
As the smoke and dust cleared, Sher watched with keen interest as the creature materialized before the black ape.
The newcomer was an ape—an ape with golden fur covering its entire body, standing only ten meters tall, holding a ten-meter-long black staff in its hand.
The entity that had previously smashed away the black ape was none other than a massive stone statue it had casually hurled. Weighing several tons, the statue had instantly batted the black ape away and inflicted heavy damage upon it.
Then, the golden monkey leaped forward, smashing its staff down onto the opponent's head and leaving a deep indentation.
The golden monkey wielded the staff in battle, its strikes seemingly carrying a strange rhythm that unfailingly landed on the opponent's unguarded spots.
The black ape roared in continuous fury, yet it was played with like a monkey by a real monkey, instantly plunging into an absolute disadvantage.
In the end, that long staff suddenly underwent a transformation, sprouting ink-black vines that bound the black ape tightly, rendering it utterly unable to struggle.
"Joseph, what faction on earth do you belong to?" Bean leaped down from the back of the giant bird, his brow knitted tightly as he stared at the other man. With four third-tier Fate Spirit Masters present, the situation had completely slipped out of control—it was simply unimaginable.
At this moment, his originally loose martial arts uniform had transformed into a suit of lead-gray armor, with a pair of dark golden gauntlets on his hands featuring distinct scales, and sharp spikes growing along the backs of his hands.
"Give up. His mind seems to have been hijacked by that entity," Sher offered by way of explanation.
"What entity?" Bean asked, slightly startled.
"The one locked away on the ninth level!"
"Damn it, how could that freak possibly have been released?!" Bean's tone was brimming with fury.
Sher's pupils constricted as he noticed a bizarre dark shadow silently appearing right behind Bean.
That strange entity stood three meters tall, its arms and legs extremely thin and malnourished like stalks of bamboo.
It bore no major physical differences from a human, possessing dark skin and a face devoid of facial features, with a fleshy tumor over a meter long growing out of its head.
"Watch out behind you!" Sher couldn't help but warn him.
This monster was precisely the sealed entity. Having escaped its suppression at some unknown moment, it had appeared directly behind Bean!
Reacting to the warning, Bean whirled around and threw a punch, but it was as if he had struck an illusion. His target shattered silently under his attack, only to reappear behind him once more like a clinging maggot!
