Chapter 104: Dining Without Paying, Then Sent to Clean the Bathrooms
Song Kai truly could not understand why Xiang Xiang was so agitated. However, Song Kai himself was indifferent; he was merely tailing the Daoist Sheng Xu.
The fact that Sheng Xu could use talismans and easily draw ghost-capturing symbols indicated that the old man possessed at least some internal energy. Song Kai estimated that Sheng Xu’s cultivation level was likely at the late stage of the Teleportation Realm.
At that moment, Song Kai carried no gun nor any weapon. If a fight broke out, he was no match for the old Daoist. Had he reached the Second Thunder Pill Refining Realm, with his dantian fully charged with thunder internal energy, he might have stood a chance. But now, it was obvious he would lose.
The third floor was an absolute VIP suite! The minimum spend for the third-floor suite was 18,888 yuan, and that was just the baseline! Xiang Xiang’s heart trembled with excitement. As a hostess, she usually received a thousand yuan in tips per day, but after splitting with the club and having a portion taken by its managers, making three hundred yuan a day was considered good. Though it appeared glamorous on the surface, it was actually quite exhausting, and she was often exploited by the club’s stewards.
Yet today, Xiang Xiang realized she had truly hit the jackpot—one person spending at least 18,888 yuan meant she could easily get five or six thousand yuan herself!
Her eyes narrowed, and she seemed to melt into Song Kai’s embrace.
Song Kai paid no mind to what Xiang Xiang was thinking. For now, his only goal was to find out what this Daoist Sheng Xu was doing here.
After carrying Xiang Xiang to the third floor, Song Kai saw Sheng Xu heading toward a small wooden staircase beside a counter, behind which stood a guard.
Unfazed, Song Kai, using Xiang Xiang as a shield, pulled her along toward the stairs and proceeded up to the fourth floor.
This time, Xiang Xiang was genuinely puzzled. The fourth floor? That was strictly off-limits except to special guests. In fact, the Longquan Club had only three floors; the fourth was merely an office.
Although the club had only three floors, its premises were vast—likely the owner’s way of marking territory. The club could easily accommodate hundreds, even thousands, of patrons at once.
“What are you doing?” a burly man rose from behind the counter, glaring at Song Kai and Xiang Xiang. “You can’t go up there.”
Xiang Xiang hurriedly pulled Song Kai back, looking at him with confusion. “What are you trying to do? The third floor is already the best suite! You can enjoy music, massage, sauna—brother, just pick a room!”
“But didn’t that person just go up?” Song Kai asked, pointing at Daoist Sheng Xu.
“That’s the boss’s friend,” Xiang Xiang said, eyeing Song Kai. “What exactly do you want?”
“I… I just suddenly remembered I have something to do. Xiang Xiang, I’ll find you another time,” Song Kai said, heading downstairs.
Xiang Xiang froze for three seconds, her mind short-circuiting, then suddenly realized the truth: this scoundrel was here to deceive her! A fraud.
She couldn’t hold back and chased after Song Kai, shouting, “Someone call for help! This man used my body and won’t pay!”
The Longquan Club had operated here for so long and charged so highly for a reason.
Hearing Xiang Xiang’s cries, waiters on the first and second floors relayed messages through their communicators and quickly gathered near the staircase.
Song Kai had just reached the first-floor stairwell when dozens of waiters in vests surrounded him.
He clenched his fist then relaxed, not wanting to cause a scene. He smiled sheepishly, “A misunderstanding, really. I didn’t mean to come here; something urgent came up, so I must leave.”
“Bulls**t! You clearly tricked me!” Xiang Xiang stomped down the stairs in heels, rushing to Song Kai and groping him.
“Hey, hey, what are you doing? There are so many people! Stop touching me!” Song Kai dodged her hands.
At that moment, Xiang Xiang pulled an old Nokia phone from Song Kai’s pocket—a counterfeit, no more than sixty yuan in value.
Seeing the phone, Xiang Xiang’s face darkened. She grabbed it and slammed it onto the floor with a bang, furious. “Pfft! I thought I’d hooked a rich second generation, but you’re just a poor loser! Even grandpas dancing in the square use smartphones now, and you’re still using this relic!”
The phone’s battery popped out when it hit the floor, yet it remained intact, even cracking the floorboards beneath.
Onlookers chuckled upon seeing Song Kai’s primitive device.
“Enough!” a tall man approached.
“Steward Xin…” The crowd bowed their heads respectfully; they clearly feared this man.
Song Kai observed him. The man exuded a bloodthirsty aura, someone who had killed before. His stern face suggested he was not utterly villainous, but certainly a ruthless enforcer.
Xin Buqi looked at Song Kai, patted the dust from his shoulder, then picked up the old phone and placed it back in Song Kai’s palm.
Song Kai was puzzled by Xin Buqi’s actions.
The crowd retreated, all aware of Xin Buqi’s severity. Even the previously arrogant Xiang Xiang stepped back, fearful.
“You’ve got quite the nerve,” Xin Buqi sneered at Song Kai. “No one dares to dine-and-dash at Longquan Club. People like you haven’t appeared in a long time.”
“I couldn’t help myself and came in,” Song Kai acted, “I didn’t do anything. I just shouted ‘beauty’ in front of the Lamborghini, and this young lady hugged and kissed me, making me embarrassed.”
The crowd chuckled quietly.
Xiang Xiang angrily kicked Song Kai’s leg. “Lies! You’re the lady here! Your whole family’s ladies!”
Xin Buqi laughed and waved a hand. “Alright, Xiang Xiang, you are a lady, but if you had a bit more sense, you wouldn’t have been tricked.”
Xiang Xiang pouted but dared not retort.
Xin Buqi hooked a finger under Song Kai’s chin. “Young man, since you haven’t caused too much trouble, I don’t want you crippled today. But you took advantage of Xiang Xiang and caused a scene in my club—that’s unacceptable. I’m not looking to make things hard for you. Stay and work as a cleaner for ten days to pay off your debt.”
Song Kai was stunned.
“Want to pay off your debt another way?” Xin Buqi asked coldly.
“No, no, cleaning is fine,” Song Kai replied.
Xin Buqi nodded and told a waiter, “He’s under your supervision. Take him to change clothes and get to work quickly. Everyone else, get back to it!”
With a clap of his hands, Xin Buqi dispersed the crowd.
“Let’s go, kid!” a man with a hooked nose and broad face pushed Song Kai.
Song Kai glanced at him and saw his badge: Fang Wu.
Fang Wu was brusque, giving Song Kai a kick. “Move it.”
Song Kai endured it.
In the break room, Fang Wu handed Song Kai a set of clothes, chuckling. “You came just in time, kid. My area’s toilets haven’t been cleaned yet. You’re on toilet duty.”
After changing, Song Kai looked at Fang Wu. “You want me to clean toilets?”
“Oh, you dare not listen to me?” Fang Wu approached and kicked toward Song Kai.
Song Kai considered kicking back but decided to dodge instead. “Alright, alright, I’ll do it.”
Fang Wu kicked the empty air, annoyed but silent.
At the end of the second-floor corridor, Fang Wu said, “These toilets and the ones over there are your responsibility. For ten days, you must scrub them spotless! If I smell a single hint of odor, I’ll kick you out! And if you try to escape, well... you’re in for it.”
