Chapter 110: Provoked and Panicked
Sun Zhaoxing was strolling along the riverbank when he asked Yang Changfeng if he wanted to go, mentioning that a friend was eager to meet this legendary racer. Yang Changfeng ignored him, about to change the subject, when a message from an unfamiliar contact popped up.
Opening it, he saw the name Ma Siwei—somehow familiar.
Hmm?
Ma Siwei?
Suddenly alert, Yang Changfeng quickly opened the chat, ready to exchange a few words, only to see Ma Siwei’s message first: “Mr. Yang, can we meet at noon? I have something that I think is quite important for you, something you might find useful.”
What could she possibly have that would be useful to him?
Curious, Yang Changfeng pondered where Ma Siwei might be able to assist him. Contacts? No, she mentioned “something,” not just connections.
He casually typed back, “What is it?” and slipped his phone into his pocket, noticing Chen Aijia glaring at him.
He felt innocent—at such meetings, he had little to say. Saying too much might upset Vice President Su. Besides, all the company’s obstacles had been cleared; what else was there for him to do? Anything involving violence was out of the question. Who else in the company still dared to cause trouble?
That vice president had been too scared to even look up all day. Just now, Team Leader Su read out his name—the embezzlement from the company funds reached over twelve million. This man was doomed.
At that moment, another vice president stood up, interrupting Team Leader Su from continuing the list. He voluntarily admitted to associating with the already reported vice president and confessed to embezzling twenty million from the company—not counting the usual entertainment expenses. Among those expenses, many were inflated or falsely claimed as company costs to get reimbursements.
This man looked vaguely familiar. He used to be an adversary, but after work, he and Wang Hu would often stand in the lobby chatting.
Yang Changfeng glanced at him—this was a clever man.
Zhang Baode muttered bitterly, “That bastard still wants to clear himself. The houses his family bought—two of them—were paid for with money Wang Hu arranged. That’s several million.”
Yang Changfeng looked at this man again. The vice president hurriedly flashed a smile at him but, seeing the dangerous glint in Yang Changfeng’s eyes, immediately confessed about the two houses.
“And the car—I’m willing to repay everything from my personal income. I only ask for internal disciplinary action.”
Saying that, he slumped back into his chair, clearly handing over his fate to the company’s judgment.
Vice President Su hadn’t expected this. She thought everyone would be like that logistics vice president who still denied guilt and wanted to keep the money for themselves.
“President Chen, this…” Vice President Su was at a loss.
This man was clearly setting a precedent. With him leading, others would likely come forward to confess their issues and seek leniency. But this leniency felt too generous—they had all enjoyed those funds lavishly, and only now, when caught, did they choose to confess. If they weren’t dealt with harshly, how would the company maintain authority?
Chen Aijia pondered briefly, then asked Yang Changfeng, “What do you think should be done?”
“Simple. Count all the funds embezzled without cause as his responsibility. Such a person definitely knows who else is involved. Unless all the money is recovered in full, without a cent missing, they must be sent to prison,” Yang Changfeng said ruthlessly, striking hard at the vice president. The man’s face turned pale. “Of course, everyone has the right to choose. If they refuse to cooperate, it’s easy—send them in to deter others from daring to steal. As for the debts owed, that’s not a problem. I’ll find a few of Wang Hu’s men to deal with it physically. They’ll be eager to recover every penny.”
Many faces darkened, as if they could be used as inkstones. Yang’s proposal was lawless but brilliant—it forced everyone to return every penny of embezzled money.
Whoever dared not repay would have trouble at home. Once the main offender was locked up, the family left behind wouldn’t be able to enjoy the stolen wealth, would they?
Worse still, some had already spent the money.
“That’s fine,” Yang Changfeng said casually. “If they bought houses with property certificates or cars with proper paperwork, those assets have value. Calculate their worth based on the original price plus interest from economic fluctuations over the years—that should be equivalent. If there’s still debt, their families can be moved onto the streets. With the recent rains, half a month of hardship will force them to find a way to pay back. I guarantee no one in Jiangzhou will rent to them.”
Someone whispered, “What about compensating those who were hurt?”
Yang Changfeng shrugged. “No problem. Since I was the one who dealt the blows, I’ll pay the compensation.”
His money was hard to get and harder to spend. Anyone who dared take his money would never live in peace again.
“Start with you,” Yang Changfeng heard clearly from a manager in the marketing department, who was also the team leader—a peculiar structure where everyone was a manager, but their supervisor was called team leader.
That young man was well-connected and arrogant, with only a few colleagues he respected.
“I didn’t take anything. What I took was what I deserved,” the man said defiantly, standing up to confront Yang Changfeng.
He believed the company couldn’t do without him; otherwise, he’d take all the clients away, which would be a huge loss.
Vice President Su then spoke. She had changed her stance and now fully supported Yang Changfeng, though she wouldn’t openly admit if he was wrong.
“Then investigate. If there’s nothing wrong, there’s no fear. If issues are found, you take responsibility; if none, I will,” she told Team Leader Su. “Organize the finance department to immediately audit every marketing manager’s use of company funds—every single one.”
The man’s heart sank. This was clearly a setup.
No one in sales dared guarantee they were clean.
“I have no objections, no objections,” the man caved immediately. No matter how bold, in front of the boss, you had to bow. Trying to be righteous or heroic? Wait until you’re on equal footing with the boss.
Vice President Su dropped the matter, but Yang Changfeng was relentless.
What’s the use of clients if you leave the company? Do those clients even know who you are?
Sure, you might take some clients with you, but were they clients because of you or because they belonged to the company?
“Old Zhang, keep an eye on the security department. I’m going to have a showdown with this guy—let’s see who kills who first,” Yang Changfeng sneered coldly. If anyone wanted to suppress him, he’d start by taking down these troublemakers.
