Chapter 35 Stripping Down to Show You
A group of people, half dead and barely conscious, were severely delayed. Several deputy directors proposed serious disciplinary action.
Chen Aijia spoke coldly, "How should it be handled?"
The balding old man with an administrative deputy badge replied, "No matter what, this is a serious injury incident. The person who did it must be severely punished. Since this one was brought by Director Chen, let Director Chen handle it."
Chen Aijia sneered, casting a glance at Yang Changfeng, who was smiling sardonically. She said, "Oh? Then how do you suggest I handle it?"
"Call the police, have him arrested!" The balding old man's voice boomed as he searched for supporters among the crowd.
Chen Aijia replied with just one sentence, "From today, you don’t need to come to work anymore. Go to finance and collect your salary."
Wang Hu cried out anxiously, "No, I disagree!"
Yang Changfeng slapped him, saying nothing, just staring at Wang Hu.
Wang Hu grew timid. He had seen desperados before, but never such a bold one. Skill gives courage, and with Chen Aijia's wealth, it seemed there was no way to deal with them.
Seeing Wang Hu fall silent, Yang Changfeng clapped his hands as if applauding. "That’s right. When you’re not needed, say one more word and I’ll slap you; ten more words and I’ll make you wish you were dead. It won’t take much effort to ruin you. Believe me, I’m not threatening you."
Chen Aijia asked, "Then how do you think this should be resolved?"
"Call the police," Yang Changfeng answered, nearly provoking Chen Aijia into cursing him for his stupidity.
Wang Hu was stunned, and the other deputies, faces complicated, were stunned as well.
Call the police, have Yang arrested—that was what many wanted. As a woman holding up such a large company, Chen Aijia couldn’t do without these senior managers.
It was like an imperial court in ancient times: the emperor couldn’t handle everything alone, and the officials sought to expand their power.
But Yang didn’t seem to be an idiot.
Yang Changfeng smiled, "Why are you looking at me? The government should award me a banner. These men—some have been mercenaries abroad, some have fought in illegal boxing matches, others have blood on their hands. Let the police investigate, and plenty of skeletons will surface. Do you really think I should be the one arrested?"
The balding old man protested loudly, "I refuse—"
Then Yang Changfeng struck him.
"In a public space, attempting to assault a female leader—how can such scum stay in the company?!" With a slap, Yang Changfeng knocked out two of the old man's front teeth and kicked him.
Chen Aijia gazed deeply at Yang Changfeng. She learned a new trick: establish a fait accompli.
Earlier, the old man had gestured wildly, and though he probably hadn’t actually assaulted anyone, if he touched someone and it was defined as an attempt to molest a female leader, no one would question it. If Chen Aijia wanted to frame a subordinate, no one would dare contradict her.
She paid taxes to the government, not these high-level managers.
The others realized: Yang was brought in by Chen Aijia as her enforcer. With Wang Hu subdued, Chen Aijia could push through sweeping reforms without worrying about someone inciting the employees to rebel. As long as the company remained stable, she need not fear any ripples caused by reform.
This was going to cost some people dearly.
Wang Hu stood among the crowd, seething. He felt an urgent need to eliminate Yang Changfeng first. But the man was a master—it wouldn’t be easy. So, eliminate Chen Aijia, and end the battle at its most critical point.
He hoped Chen Aijia would distance herself from Yang, finding him too brazen, and soon return to the days when Anya chauffeured her to and from work. Then opportunities would abound.
But Chen Aijia wasn’t stupid. She knew that after today's events, Wang Hu, now desperate, would likely resort to more intense resistance.
That was a good thing. Previously, others had always been on the offensive, nibbling away at the company’s benefits to enrich themselves. From today, with Yang Changfeng, the unreasonable expert, these people would have to weigh their actions carefully.
The war shifted from defense to offense; the initiative was hers. Chen Aijia felt a surge of pride.
Look at these deputy directors—even her confidants had their own little schemes, let alone those who merely wanted to earn a living.
The company needed reform. The slackers had to go, even if they were veterans or founding members.
Her family would surely oppose it, but so what?
The company could support a few elders, but not if they wanted to cash in and treat it as their own.
The company belonged to the Chen family!
"Call the police, then." Chen Aijia turned to Anya, "Call Aunt Liu for help. If these people have serious problems, go straight to the provincial bureau. Also, keep watch—don’t let some nobody sneak them out and release them."
Wang Hu grew frantic, ignoring his injuries, hopping and shouting, "Director Chen, this will chill the employees' hearts! Don’t forget, last year, when the company was attacked, the Security Department fought off the intruders while injured—they deserve credit!"
Yang Changfeng’s dominance gave Chen Aijia great confidence. She shook her head and replied calmly, "What kind of attack was it? I still have doubts. Let the provincial bureau dig into these men's pasts. The company covered their medical bills. If there are no issues, compensate them with a year’s salary. Minister Wang, any further questions?"
"There are!" Yang Changfeng strode over, smiling. "I said, one more word earns you a slap. Did you think I was joking?"
Someone tried to intervene, but Yang Changfeng kicked him, snapping the man's shin. Wang Hu turned to flee, but Yang grabbed him by the collar, slapped his face swollen, and faced his resentful glare with a light laugh. "Yesterday I reported to you—I don’t play by your rules. Why didn’t you listen? If you want to resist, hurry up. I know you’ll try to kill me, so I’ll try to kill you first. If you don’t have the courage to poison my food today, don’t bother with pointless resistance. Understand?"
Wang Hu said nothing, glaring at Yang Changfeng, accidentally glancing at Chen Aijia.
Chen Aijia smiled, "It seems our fates are tied together now. Yang, you’d better take responsibility."
Responsible?
Yes, responsible. Responsible.
Someday, if I get you both pregnant, I’ll definitely take responsibility!
"Don’t worry, I’ll reward you," Chen Aijia said, ignoring Yang Changfeng’s cheeky grin, speaking in earnest.
A reward?
A kiss, or Anya warming my bed?
Yang Changfeng thought that would be the ideal reward.
He didn’t expect Chen Aijia would publicly announce a boss’s decree.
Smiling, she said, "I’ve decided that from now on, Yang Changfeng will serve as Deputy Director of the Security Department. His compensation will match that of a department manager. Any objections?"
Yang Changfeng was displeased. His trousers were already at his knees, and this was all he got?
