Chapter 117: A Single Glance Spanning Billions of Miles, the Great Shaman’s Archery Shoots Down the Sun

“Patriarch, have you succeeded?” Second Boy asked, looking at Luo Zu, who had changed into a different outfit but whose appearance remained largely the same. He sounded somewhat uncertain.
“Of course I have,” Luo Zu replied.
“You really did?” Owl stepped forward and flexed every muscle in her body, as though trying to express her disbelief.
After all, the immortals spoken of by the elders were beings of legend.
Whenever such immortals fought, the heavens collapsed, the earth split apart, rivers reversed their course, and living things perished in droves.
“What? Do you want me to put on a demonstration?” Luo Zu asked with a smile.
Owl shook her head. “Forget it.”
Yet even as she shook her head, she had already moved closer. She was just about to reach out with her broad, solid arm and touch Luo Zu’s when he willed it, freezing her in place lest she truly start laying hands on him.
She really did think the whole thing was unreal and wanted to test it for herself.
“Now that I have cultivated into a True Immortal, I should properly explain the path to immortality to all of you.” Luo Zu pointed at her and sent the unwilling Owl back to her original position.
He had everyone present sit down in neat rows.
The moment they heard him say this, their faces filled with excitement.
An immortal! Their patriarch had become an immortal. Surely they could do the same?
No one questioned their own talent. They were all human, after all—not those winged “immortals.”
Since the patriarch of the human race could become an immortal, they certainly could as well.
The humans of this era had never suffered through the differences between one person and another.
Besides, they were all descendants of the third or fourth generation, so the differences between them truly would not be great. They were not even all that different from the second generation. Only the first-generation humans, personally fashioned by Lady Nuwa through the true divine art of creation, might possess certain distinctions.
Luo Zu had also observed the physical constitution of the next generation and the generation after that among the Cavemen. The changes were slight—almost negligible. Perhaps several more generations would have to pass before any real difference became apparent when compared with their current generation.
As for where their differences might lie, it would probably be in their innate divine abilities. That would depend on their luck.
Yet the development of those innate abilities would also depend upon their wisdom.
Once everyone had taken their seats, they waited for the people from the other three villages to arrive.
“I will directly sort out the general process of cultivating immortal arts and transmit it to all of you through spiritual synchronization. Everyone will receive it. No one will be left out,” Luo Zu said.
This lecture would be broadcast live.
It was a benefit for every Caveman.
“However, I will not yet pass on the specific cultivation method to all of you. I do not want you reaching beyond your grasp. Only when you are on the verge of this realm will I transmit the method to you.” Luo Zu made the matter perfectly clear.

The humans of this age knew little of deceit and intrigue. It was better to speak plainly, lest everyone become tangled in needless twists and turns.
“Yes, Patriarch.” The people seated upright in the cavern answered in unison.
Since he was not privately passing on secret techniques, they did not grow resentful when Luo Zu summoned them here. The tribe still had many matters to report to him, after all.
“Come to think of it, how many days was I in seclusion?” Luo Zu asked.
Second Boy raised his hand. “Twelve days.”
That was indeed quite a long time.
Luo Zu could have calculated it himself, of course.
But some matters were still better confirmed by asking directly.
It would also lay the groundwork for the conversation to come: what had happened in the tribe recently, whether the distant Hot-Witch Tribe had sent any news, and whether there was any information about the wars among the great shaman and demon tribes farther away.
“Patriarch, we can actually see the battle of spells over there now,” Second Boy said.
“How?” Luo Zu asked, suddenly curious.
“Do you remember that attack from the other day—the one that killed seven of our people?” Second Boy asked in return.
Luo Zu nodded, and then understood.
“Can we see through that fissure?” he asked, astonished.
Second Boy nodded.
Luo Zu looked toward the others. One after another, they shook their heads.
“They haven’t mastered the Thousand-Mile Eye, so they can’t see it,” Second Boy explained.
Luo Zu understood at once.
That day, the aftershock of the battle between mighty beings far more than ten billion miles away had pierced through the mountains and great rivers, the ancient forests, and the many perilous regions within that vast distance. In the end, it had even cleaved through the Ziyuan Mountains.
Because of this, the line of sight along the entire path was unobstructed. Second Boy had taken advantage of that opening to witness the battle taking place more than ten billion miles away.
Upon hearing this, Luo Zu immediately sent out a strand of divine sense. It materialized inside the cavern as a little figure three feet tall.
This was a form of external incarnation.
Ordinarily, a True Immortal would not possess such an ability. Luo Zu, however, was exceptional. He possessed the divine art known as Creation in Motion and had cultivated it to the level of a sixth-rank Dao art.
Even so, the three-foot figure was not made of flesh and blood. It was composed purely of the spiritual energy of heaven and earth.
With a single leap, the little figure rose to a height of roughly a hundred meters. Then it twisted in midair and shot away, crossing the distance in three breaths and arriving within the “Heavenly Chasm” created by the battle between immortals.
The chasm was a hundred li wide, and its depth was… bottomless. It lay five hundred li from Luo Village.
It had greatly affected the lives of the Cavemen. Their hunting parties had lost one direction in which they could explore.

Thus, in the Cavemen’s plans, it had become a significant obstacle.
Yet there was nothing they could do about it. It was there, and the human race lacked the power to fill it in.
Luo Zu still remembered how, on the day it was formed, it had severed even the low clouds a million li above the earth.
The Cavemen should therefore count themselves fortunate that they had not been struck by it. Otherwise, they would never have had the chance to witness such a magnificent spectacle.
While Luo Zu’s thoughts wandered, he had already arrived within the Heavenly Chasm.
His divine perception quietly descended into the abyss.
A hundred li. A thousand. Ten thousand. A hundred thousand. Three hundred thousand. A million. Three million…
He had reached his current limit.
But this was not the limit of the Heavenly Chasm.
He seemed still able to glimpse the boundless darkness below.
The chasm was likely tens of millions of li deep…
At that moment, Luo Zu felt as if he had barely begun to revel in his success before someone had struck him with a humiliating blow.
He had only just attained True Immortality, yet he had already encountered power of this magnitude. Once again, he was made keenly aware that beyond every mountain lay another mountain, and beyond every person stood someone greater.
If he had faced such power in his present state, he would have died on the spot. He would not have possessed even the slightest chance to resist, nor would he have had time to react. He would have been crushed directly into dust, without so much as a wisp of soul remaining.
What manner of existence had produced such an aftershock with its divine art?
A Profound Immortal? A Golden Immortal?
Luo Zu then gazed into the distance from within the Heavenly Chasm.
His eyes suddenly began to ache. A dazzling, incandescent radiance was shooting straight toward him.
It was as though he had looked directly at the sun.
Before he could evade that blinding light, he saw an indescribable “arrow” pierce through it.
Ah!
Inside the cavern, a muffled cough echoed through the darkness.
