Chapter Twenty-Five: Rising to Divinity in a Single Battle
Chapter Twenty-Five: A Single Battle Makes a God
“Holy crap! What did I just see?”
“A butt! It was a butt!”
“This can’t be real—how could someone send another flying with their butt?”
“This defies all reason!”
...
The arena was in an uproar, but only Ye Ying’er and her friends were clutching their mouths, nearly bursting with laughter.
“This guy’s actually pretty funny,” Shangguan Yunfei said, holding his forehead and shaking his head as he tried not to laugh.
At that moment, Shi Bai once again slowly approached Gao Wenqiang. Step by step, he moved forward, each stride making everyone’s heart race.
Especially Gao Wenqiang—watching Shi Bai advance, he seemed almost like the devil incarnate.
“What… what are you going to do?” Gao Wenqiang lay sprawled on the ground, fearfully scrambling backward.
Shi Bai smiled faintly, his eyes hidden by the hair falling over his brow.
Gao Wenqiang shuddered, his voice suddenly tinged with tears. “Don’t… don’t come any closer!”
But Shi Bai paid his fear no mind, continuing to approach at an unhurried pace.
The psychological blow coupled with Shi Bai’s earlier collision had left Gao Wenqiang’s legs numb—he hadn’t suffered any real injury, but he couldn’t stand.
“Don’t… don’t… don’t come any closer!”
Shi Bai kept moving forward.
“I’m begging you! Please let me go!”
Shi Bai pressed on.
“Wuu… wuu…”
At last, Gao Wenqiang shed tears of regret.
“This is…”
Another uproar swept through the crowd.
“Gao Wenqiang… he actually… cried.”
“He was beaten to tears…”
Instantly, everyone stared at Shi Bai as if he were some sort of monster. Especially Liu Feifei, who seemed trapped in a nightmare.
“How could this be? He was beaten up by Gao Wenqiang just this morning…”
But the PE teacher’s eyes shone with dazzling light, as if he’d discovered a priceless treasure. “This kid… has unlimited potential!”
“Phew!” Shi Bai dusted off his hands and let out a breath. “Done.” He waved at Gao Wenqiang. “Alright, I’m done playing with you.”
---
Gao Wenqiang finally collapsed completely onto the ground. “Did I just… escape with my life?”
“Holy crap!” Gao Yang rushed up to Shi Bai. “What did you just do? How did you pull that off?”
The others eyed him curiously, but their gazes now held a hint of respect.
Shi Bai swept his eyes across the crowd, paused, and said calmly, “Actually, I’ve trained.”
“Huh?” everyone exclaimed.
Gao Yang hurriedly asked, “What kind of training? I don’t recall any martial arts that use the butt for attacking!”
Everyone laughed—Gao Yang had voiced what they all wanted to ask.
Shi Bai licked his dry lips and replied matter-of-factly, “No martial art specifically attacks with the butt, of course, but none prohibit it either. As long as you reach a certain level, even falling leaves and drifting flowers can harm.”
The crowd was enlightened—so he was a master, which explained the butt attack, but somehow it still left them uneasy. “Isn’t this just showing off?”
However, Shangguan Yunfei and Wang Zhongtian didn’t laugh, because they knew Shi Bai spoke the truth.
Just then, the PE teacher strode over and grabbed Shi Bai’s shoulder, excitedly exclaiming,
“Shi Bai! I misjudged you—you’re a combat genius! Interested in learning wrestling?”
“Uh… well…” Shi Bai was a bit embarrassed. “Sorry, sir, wrestling isn’t really my thing.”
“No problem!” the teacher pressed on. “As long as you train with me, I guarantee you’ll be national champion!”
“No, no, no!” Shi Bai retreated a few steps. “Sir, I really don’t want to wrestle.”
“Don’t say that!” the teacher urged. “Think about it—once you’re national champion, you can have money and beautiful women! You don’t like studying, right? Wrestling is perfect for you!”
“No, no, no!” Shi Bai dashed off. “Sir, please find someone else! Gao Wenqiang has talent too!”
“Gao Wenqiang won’t do!” the teacher shouted, chasing after him. “Compared to you, he’s nothing! Hey! Don’t run!”
The students stared at the vanishing figure, stunned.
...
The class ended quickly, and Shi Bai became famous overnight, earning a new nickname—Butt God.
He naturally disliked the moniker—anyone who didn’t know would think he was fond of farting! So he secretly resolved to find a chance to change it.
During the break, Shi Bai ran into Liu Feifei again. Their eyes met, but Liu Feifei turned away with her usual aloofness, though something subtle had changed inside her.
“This guy’s so good at fighting… so… would he use force with me… ah! What am I thinking!” Her face flushed suddenly.
“No, that’s not right!” She shook her head. “What’s the point of being good at fighting? He’s not handsome, has no money, and isn’t a good student—a Butt God! Ha, what use is that?”
She lifted her head, as if recalling something wonderful. “Shangguan Yunfei is handsome, but he likes Ye Ying’er… Then there’s Li Xiujie—he’s even more handsome, smart, good at basketball, rich, and plays guitar!”
Sitting at her desk, she suddenly buried her head in her arms. “He’s the only one who deserves me!”
Li Xiujie, the heartthrob of Class Six, Grade Two, was also the school’s prince. His family ran a business, reputedly quite wealthy, and he arrived at school in a luxury car.
Handsome, accomplished, and gentle, he was the undisputed Prince Charming of Dongke High, a second-tier school.
---
Compared to him, Shi Bai really seemed to pale.
But Liu Feifei was overthinking, for in Shi Bai’s eyes, neither she nor Li Xiujie had any place.
Time flew by, and soon the afternoon classes ended. Shi Bai and Gao Yang left through the school gates, just in time to see a luxury sedan.
“Mercedes—over a million!” Gao Yang smacked his lips.
Shi Bai glanced at it. In this day and age, that could buy two apartments.
“Li Xiujie!”
A sweet, shy voice sounded behind Shi Bai.
He and Gao Yang turned to see Liu Feifei and Zhang Tongtong, calling to a tall boy in a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
That boy was Li Xiujie.
“Are you calling me?” Li Xiujie slung his backpack over one shoulder and turned with the air of a Prince Charming.
“Yes!… Yes, yes!” Liu Feifei hurried over, pulled a “Youth Novel” magazine from her red backpack.
“This is the one you lent me last time—I’ve finished it, so I’m returning it.”
Li Xiujie glanced at the magazine and smiled. “I’ve finished it too, so you can keep it.” He waved and turned. “See you tomorrow.”
Liu Feifei immediately put on a lovestruck expression. “Okay! See… see you tomorrow!”
Li Xiujie passed by Gao Yang and Shi Bai without even glancing at them, ducked into the Mercedes.
The engine roared, and the car sped away.
“Holy crap, I’m so jealous!” Gao Yang gazed after the departing car with admiration.
Shi Bai’s thoughts drifted to the past. In his previous life, Li Xiujie was the star of the school—not just on stage and the basketball court, but in romance.
Almost every class’s flower had dated him for a while, and every few days, it seemed his companion had changed.
The boys envied and hated him—envied his circumstances, hated his greed. Wasn’t one school beauty enough? Did he have to play with them all?
Liu Feifei and Zhang Tongtong walked past Shi Bai. Liu Feifei was still icy cold, not sparing him a glance, but Zhang Tongtong sneered audibly, and soon the two were giggling over “Butt God.”
Gao Yang joined in, “Hey, Butt God, let’s go.”
Shi Bai slowly turned, squinting at Gao Yang. “What did you say?”
Gao Yang quickly raised his hands to cover his head. “My bad!”
Shi Bai ignored him, watching Liu Feifei’s figure with a slight frown. “Woman, you’re playing with fire. Activate the mission: Make Liu Feifei fall for me—hopelessly.”
“Self-made mission initiated. Mission activated.”
