Chapter 91: An Utterly Speechless Incident
She held her phone up in front of Xie Xu. "Hey, Xie Xu, look what I found. This is beyond ridiculous!"
"What is it?" Xie Xu took the phone without thinking and began reading the post.
Lu Yiqi kept muttering beside him. "I’m telling you, this good Samaritan online really cracked me up. If you’re going to make up a story, at least make it believable. She even said the reason you turned her down was that you already had a girlfriend, and that once you had such a pretty girlfriend, you couldn’t look at other girls anymore. Ugh, so fake. The person who wrote this clearly didn’t use a single brain cell. I can accept you saying you had a girlfriend as an excuse, but would you really say something that greasy?"
Xie Xu: "..."
Greasy???
He was genuinely baffled.
Don’t girls usually like it when their boyfriends use them as an excuse to turn other people down? Why did that become greasy when it came to him?
Could Lu Yiqi be some kind of ironclad, utterly straight-minded girl?
Xie Xu could not help worrying silently about the road ahead in his pursuit of her.
The woman he had his eye on was immune to sweet talk and pressure alike. She wouldn’t fall for any of his tricks at all.
Xie Xu felt as though a single word had been written all over his face: hard.
He happened to have scrolled to the photo attached at the very bottom.
After looking through everything, Xie Xu tapped the picture and enlarged it for Lu Yiqi to see. "Don’t you think she took it pretty well? Look at that—she made me look so handsome. Hurry up and save this photo and send it to my WeChat. I need to preserve my world-class good looks."
Lu Yiqi: "…Is your focus on the wrong thing?"
"Wrong? How is it wrong?" Xie Xu said, then turned back as if it were completely casual, his voice unnervingly gentle. "Hey, classmate Yan Yi, help me take a look. Is this picture nice or not?"
Yan Yi lifted his head and glanced at the photo. He nearly went blind. The smile on Lu Yiqi’s face in the picture was sweet enough to make teeth ache.
Yan Yi: "..."
He now seriously suspected that Xie Xu had shown him this photo on purpose.
Even the question itself made Yan Yi suspect that what he really meant was not, "Is this photo nice?" but rather, "See how happy she looks when she is with me? See how beautiful and perfect we look together in the same frame?"
Lu Yiqi had not even had time to stop Xie Xu before Yan Yi had already seen it, and there was even a faintly strange look on his face.
Yan Yi’s feelings were obvious. Lu Yiqi was not stupid and naturally sensed them too. It was only because she did not want to lose Yan Yi as an older brother that she had always pretended not to know, but she still kept the proper distance from him. Yet now, with Xie Xu openly showing off like this, Lu Yiqi felt terribly awkward when she looked at Yan Yi.
Just as she was fretting over how to ease the tension, Ho Shi’s loud and carefree voice came over.
"What are you three doing? What photo is it, Brother Xu? You show it to the big star Yan but not to me? Hmph."
Xie Xu turned and gave Ho Shi a sidelong glance. Since Yan Yi had already seen it, his goal was accomplished. So he tossed the phone to Ho Shi. "Here, this one."
Yan Yi took the phone and looked at it, his eyes going wide.
His Brother Xu was seriously impressive. He had thought there had been no progress between the two of them at all, and yet they were already taking photos together.
Ho Shi did not stint on praise. "This looks great! Look how sweet and cute our little Yiqi is smiling, and look how perfect our Brother Xu’s side profile is. Damn, if I had Brother Xu’s godlike face, I’d be soaring into the sky already."
Ho Shi spoke with such excitement that, without realizing it, he tapped the screen. When he looked down again, he blurted, "Hey, what’s this?"
He scrolled upward.
