Chapter 94: How Does She Talk?
Xie Xu was gloating over the success of his plan, utterly unaware that another storm of bloodshed and chaos was waiting for him.
After the five of them finished eating, they headed back to school together.
But when they got there, they found a crowd of students gathered in a ring, with one tall girl standing out in particular.
Lu Yiqi thought the tall girl looked vaguely familiar and was still racking her brains to remember who she was.
Then the tall girl suddenly waved in their direction. "Hello, Xie Xu!"
Xie Xu had been walking along when he heard someone call his name; he turned to look.
Lin Huiran pushed through the crowd and came over to Xie Xu. Only then did she notice Lu Yiqi, and she greeted her with a bright smile as well. "Hi, Lu Yiqi."
Lu Yiqi was momentarily stunned and reflexively replied, "Hi."
Lin Huiran then very naturally slipped into their group of five and stood beside Xie Xu. "I'm Lin Huiran. Do you still remember me?"
At the mention of her name, Lu Yiqi vaguely remembered her; she recalled that this was the girl from the dessert shop who had stood up for her best friend and slapped a scumbag boyfriend in a rage. "I remember..."
But the moment she said it, Xie Xu's indifferent voice cut in: "I don't remember."
Lin Huiran and Lu Yiqi: ...
Nearby, the crowd that had been surrounding Lin Huiran had no idea what was happening on her side. They only saw her rush over the moment she spotted Xie Xu and blend right into their group.
Bystander 1: "So what that girl said was true? She actually knows Xie Xu?"
Bystander 2: "I thought it was just another one of Xie Xu's crazy admirers trying to get close to him by claiming she knew him. Her attitude was kind of bad at first too; she came right up and asked where Xie Xu was... How would we know where Xie Xu is? And even if we did, we wouldn't tell her. Our school's hotties aren't for girls from other schools."
Bystander 3: "Looking at her uniform, I think she's from Third High School."
Bystander 4: "Am I the only one wondering where this woman came from? Does that mean the ship I started shipping this morning is fake? No, I don't want this! I just finished reading that short campus romance about Xie Xu and Lu Yiqi. I don't want my dream shattered."
Bystanders: "..."
No one had expected Xie Xu to be so unceremoniously dismissive.
Yan Yi, Chen Ziyi, and He Shi, who knew nothing about the situation, saw Xie Xu's attitude and each had their own thoughts.
Yan Yi: Where the hell did this unwanted admirer of Xie Xu's come from? Perfect timing.
He Shi: Brother Xu is Brother Xu. That's so you.
Chen Ziyi: This man really has a strong survival instinct.
Lin Huiran froze for a moment. When she came to herself, she pressed on stubbornly: "Why didn't you reply to my messages last night? The moment I asked which school you were from, you stopped replying. Were you asleep? It's fine if you were asleep. I found out your school on my own anyway. Hi, I'm from Third High School."
Lin Huiran chattered on without stopping, and Lu Yiqi listened in complete confusion.
What do you mean, not replying to messages? They had clearly met together. Why had she sent a message to Xie Xu but not to her, and why was she being so enthusiastic with Xie Xu? Could Lin Huiran like Xie Xu...?
At that thought, Lu Yiqi felt a little uncomfortable... though she couldn't figure out why.
Xie Xu: "...Noisy."
Lu Yiqi: For some reason, she suddenly felt much better.
Lin Huiran: "..."
She couldn't keep this up on her own anymore.
Was this guy a ghost? How was she supposed to carry on a conversation like this?
This was even worse than if he'd just sent her ellipses on WeChat; at least then she could have forced a painfully awkward conversation. But now??
This was it? This was all she got? How was she supposed to talk to him now?
